I think it was in his blog, he wasn't as blatant as this time. It was along the lines of "sometimes when you have to do what the company you're contracted to wants you to do, however much you think it's a bad idea" at the time, it was undeniable that it was about the NGE. And anyone who's actually spoken to an SWG dev at the time would know SOE was hoping that Obiwan would improve numbers sufficiently that they wouldn't have to put the NGE live, obviously that didn't happen and it got pushed anyways.

And whilst they may not revamp the combat again, they are at least listening to the players now and adding back in everything they want. It's got some solid design decisions behind it now, but eh.. it's not half as good as the original

Besides.. the point is, it wasn't SOE's fault, least not entirely, so saying VG will suck because of the NGE is a bit stupid.

Of course they, SOE had this planned. Think about it. It is a win-win on sonys part. MS paid most of the money to dev the game. They get the best talent from sigil to join in on Sony, and a product that is already over the hump as far as they are concerned. Last figure I seen quoted is that there is 90k active accounts in vanguard. 90k x $15.00us=1,350,000.00 per month. The only place they have to go is up. Even if they just set the game on auto pilot like they have many others, the money will come in.

I don't think anyone has said that. What they and I have said is, 'we don't trust $OE and are extremely nervous about them running this game' They've not had a good track record with a lot of games. EQ, SWG, MxO, Planetside. They've pissed a lot of people off with extremely poor and ill advised changes to these games. Now if Smed isn't lying through his teeth and sticks by his statement about them learning their lessons with the NGE, then great. There is hope.
