besides, i haven't noticed declining population, just the opposite, but the incoming is slow.

lol, gotta love these rumors, at least they give us something to talk about. the only thing that would make this even 'more' credible is if he cited an 'unnamed source' =P

Everyday that Sigil makes no comment makes it more and more credible.

They are probably preparing a press release.

I have noticed from the Dev Tracker recently that the 'banter' coming from the dev's has been very minimal, and 'answer question only' responses.

I really wouldnt be suprised if im honest, but I would be very interested to know what SOE would do, or plans to do, if they did take over.

I hope it's not true, I wouldn't play if SOE took over because they will just ruin the game and I don't need the frustration - which would upset my guild, but at the end of the day this is just a game and I will not pay to play a game that's been taken over by SOE.

i'd still play it as long as they don't pull the BS they did on SWG, i still miss that game and want to go back and play =(

ok.... so.... I'm sitting here with a fever of 102 and this is after doing tons of research yesterday and many many many things strike me a just WRONG about this whole thing...

SoE will announce next week they've agreed to buy out Vanguard from Sigil

But this makes SOE look like a much put upon relative who's bailing someone out again (or, alternatively, the benevolent benefactor who is saving the bumbling fool from themselves) it Also makes Sigil look like a bunch of bumbling fools - NOT a good business move, even for a corporate giant. You never want to alienate business partners.

another bad business move. You can't make this type of statement until there are financial papers backing it up. To make this sweeping statement is to imply the business is the equivalent of financially defunct. that is also called slander and for a business that is so dependent on subscriptions, comments like this can make the chicken littles fly to the hills. Congratulations, if it makes a big enough impact on the bottom line and they think it's worth it - this is a defamation/slander suit (from what I know of business law - and I'm no lawyer, but business was my major so I studied it a bit)

This is not the first time SOE has made a grab for Vanguard. They were rebuffed once.

Were it my decision (and I thank the gods it isn't because I'm a hot head and have one hell of a temper) I'd be hunting down who started this and if they were internal, they'd be fired. If they were external and this was proven to be nothing more than a vicious rumor - I'd slap 'em with a lawsuit fast enough to make their heads spin.

The silence is not very telling at this point. There are thousands upon thousands of rumors about the MMO genre on any given day. if every company took the time to address every one of them (or hell - even a fraction of them) they'd have no time to get anything else done.

I hope Sigil stays the course and continues to make this the most kick ass game they can make it. Diverting their attention at this date is not good for the game or IMHO the company.

You know what? I followed links to the original source on Vanguard Flames. ONE PERSON said this was happening with no explanation, sources or anything to substantiate it. No indication they had inside sources or anything!

Why did one poster's statement become this big a deal?
