Re: Soulbinding and you

Whats the point of soulbinding when you can have backup armor and weapons in your Saddlebags?

Even then, I dont usually bother to equip them, why? well because if you pick up your tomb nekkid, then it automatically equips everything as you were.. if you equip stuff out of yoursaddle bag then you have to re-equip and shuffle things around.

Nope, soulbinding crystals are probably the most useless thing I can think of

What if someone didn't have saddlebags?

In all seriousness, I think Sigil should stop making saddlebags so useful.

Interesting point, facetious or otherwise. There was a time back in beta where *nothing* was soulbound, so having extra gear was a requirement if you didn't want to do the nekkid run. In that instance, saddlebags were vital, especially if you were a long way from a bank.

It highlights the insane complexity of a game like Vanguard, where the original purpose (or one of the original purposes) of an item or system can end up obscured or totally overwritten by other items and systems. I can't imagine the number of times this is repeated across the entire meta-system that is Vanguard, and the headache it must be to try to keep up with even a reasonable proportion of those complexities and interactions.

Saddlebags are useful as storage, of course, but they're no longer as essential for carrying extra gear because we can soulbind said gear. There are also *way* more bankers around than there used to be, which means it's not quite as difficult to hit a bank even if you're in the middle of nowhere - not as easy if you're not on your usual continent, but still.

/confused I thought that when you die you loose everything that is in your bags including saddlebags (though i haven't looked lately at that). Am I mistaken (apparently I am but can someone confirm - would be easier then me getting killed purposely to check that. Plus I still don't have my new computer )

No, what's in saddlebags stays put -- you don't lose your mount when you die.

You beat me to it

I suspect that MANY people are not aware of this, just like so many players I have met didnt know about /rope or /corpsedrag

As soon as I learned about the saddle bags, I never used a soul binding crystal again.

Thats not to say the Soulbind mechanic isnt usefull at later levels, I suspect once you start hitting 45+ when armor doesnt get much better and your saddle bags are full.. but im nowhere near that.

Even if Saddle bags never existed.. DONT SOUL BIND, you will DEFINATLY want to replace your armor and weapon at some point and you will definatly want to recover some money back by selling your old peice (or as mentioned, transfer to another character)

/rope I knew about it and have used it a couple times (also the /stuck or something in those lines where the GOD places you in a save place).
/corpsedrag didn't know.

I guess the saddlebags are more useful than just giving some extra space

But how did you know about rope?.. there is no reference to it other than forums, or someone told you! and I doubt you were born with that knowledge, lol

Rope and corpsedrag though are very important and people will use them often in groups.. but saddlebags? I really do wonder how many people out there simply dont know about its use.

I guess it does rely on people reading up and asking questions, or friendly strangers offering advice.

In anycase, I agree... Saddle bags pwn normal bags! I also wonder if any items you carry in the saddle bags dont count toward your total weight.. Which would make horses great for harvesters!

I only just wonderd that, ill check tonight

Anyway, sorry to drag the thread off topic... but err, yea, Binding crystals for the lose!

How do you know what i was born with?

The rope i read it somewhere in these forums useful place

OK. MAybe we should go back to topic before we get hit in the head and thrown into a saddlebag (or maybe they'll put us in a NORMAL bag and they they get killed and we surely be lost and never go off topic again....EVER )

I see the point that maybe we can save some money by not buying bind crystals and make money from selling the stuff later. Actually seems like a win win situation

Well, another thread I read, not sure where.. but that person was complaining about money progress being slow through adventuring. Well this is once aspect which could save you BAG loads of money by re-selling it on.

Not only that, most armor can be used on many different classes, I even discoverd armor that could be worn on any class last night, so if you have several characters, like I do, then its basically FREE armor and weapons.. making the money you earn on another character 100% profit.

Saddlebags aside, there seems little point in binding, and results of this poll are very suprising to me.
