Player Cities
There was this post I read on the V:SoH forums that I posted on... I like these forums much better than those (cleaner) so I decided to post my take on what would be neat about the idea of player run cities...
"I can imagine player-made vendors merchandising the items the players have found... Let's just assume a guild made the city, because a single player will be hard pressed to do so... k? So, yes... The guild's found items for sale on the merchants. Maybe the city has a crafting area that other cities don't, making them unique. Maybe the city has a cheaper housing than the main city, to encourage other people to live there. Maybe this place is nearer to a certain place people like to level up at... making it more reasonable to live there instead of the main city. Maybe player built cities will need to be fortified against other envious guilds, and the crafting professions will be utilized in this effort to protect the city. Seige will be implemented and walls constructed. After all the weapons are in place, the players change from thier crafters to the adventure sphere to be ready to defend the city. OOO!! Maybe for in-game currency, you can hire guard to protect you town. OMG! What if your town is like a Sim City, where it can obtain resources and sell it to others to make you profiet! That'd be so cool! (I'm going to post this in another forum, I love the ideas) And bad things can happen to your people, like disease and stuff... and you need to build certain churches to certain gods to make some things better. It could be like Warcraft, only in an amazingly different way! WOW!! What a great idea!! You could build a blacksmith and have them upgrade your troops stuff... ready your troops for battle against other areas. Have a scripted battle or GM event where you need a vast army with your guild allied with others!! That's it, Sigil! Hire me! We've got work to do! "Whatcha think? What would you do? The ideas are flowing from me, I really had to force myself to stop typing.

Re: Player Cities
At this point Sigil hasn't revealed much about how player cities are going to work in "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes". What we do know is that they will be possible and that they will have upkeep costs as well as needing guards to ward off enemy attacks. Beyond that they haven't really spilled much secret sauce on the subject. Of course based on what we know about the game and what has been said about player cities thus far we can make some speculations. You certainly have a nice start in that area and I personally don't see any of those as being to farfetched of course it is also very likely that all of those ideas are not going to be implemented but a good chunk of them probably will be.
While they also haven't said much in the way of PvP I imagine that guild built cities could play an important role on those servers. While it is just speculation but it certainly isn't too outlandish to think that guilds involved in PvP might have purpose in raiding the cities of rival guilds. It could certainly be a way to cripple an opponent guild and could make the importance of defending the city with henchmen as well as players all that much more important. While we don't know much at this point I have a feeling that whatever the case the cities of Telon are going to be great.

Re: Player Cities
I agree we know so little and my bet is that player cities will not be available on release. I think it unlikely that Cities (rather than buildings) would have sites right next to powerful Mobs. The idea of a city failing is scary and unless handled with care would cause losers to give up playing.

You're certainly on the right track, as Sigil has expressed many of the same desires to bring those ideas to life There is a disclaimer that cities may not be fully functional by launch, but housing will with the former following shortly after.
