looking for info on Vanguard
Hi all,
My husband and I are considering giving Vanguard a try but would like to get some information on it first. We appreciate your time and information! 1. What is the basic interface like? Is the game 1st person or 3rd or are you able to move the camera to your preference? We're coming from WoW so for anyone who has played it, how would you compare character controls? 2. Is it possible to progress solo or is grouping required 100% of the time? We enjoy grouping but RL doesnt allow for it and dont want to find ourselves unable to level if we arent always grouping. 3. Are you able to level mainly from quests or is there a good deal of "mob grinding" also required? Thanks in advance for your help ![]() |

1) The default interface, controls, shortcut key, etc. remind me very much of WoW. You would be very comfortable with movement, interactions, etc. That being said, the interface is very customizable both within the game and through 3rd party interface modifications. 2) Soloing up to 10 is for the most part very easy. I noticed soloing to start slowing down around level 14 or so, and significantly more after 20. I almost always group now. There are quite a few solo quests out there if you take the time to look for them, but I tend to prefer grouping. That being said, I do have a good friend who I duo with whenever we're both on and not able to get a group and so far we've never lacked for something to do. 3) There are lots of quests and I almost always have a quest I'm working on while killing things. But, often times there are quests that will, say, lead you into a dungeon to retrieve an item, kill a person, etc. On your way in (and out maybe, and back in again if you die, etc.) a lot of mob grinding takes place. So far, I have yet to have to go out and just kill mobs for the sake of xp. It's always been while working on a quest for myself or someone in my group. Hope that helps!

Re: looking for info on Vanguard
I would have to agree with Sheazy for the most part!
As for the solo'ing, I think you could very easily solo!.. sure it slows down at later levels, but then so does every game! Because there are SO MANY starting places for difference races and characters if you find it slowing down, then simply take off to another contient or another part of the one your at. Whenever im soloing and i encounter a 'group' quest I take it.. but return to it later! There was a quest in Kahl for Ksavari Raiders for example, I see a bunch of about 4/5 of these things.. Im too weak to solo it for now, but after a few levels I was able to! and got a fair chunk of xp reward. So basically it does take some time to hunt around, and often you have to go back to previous locations, but Telon is MASSIVE! so you would expect that right? I have to say though that every group experience I've had has never been the same! with so many different races, abilities and ways to play characters no two grouping experience is the same. I think people end up grouping mostly after 20 is purly because its enjoyable, you can solo, if thats your thing.. but even a group of two is alot more interesting ![]() Last edited by Snowman : 03-05-2007 at 05:53 AM. |
