Double Adventuring Kill weekend...

Double Adventuring Kill Experience Weekend
It is hard to believe it has already been one month since Vanguard was released! We know it is not always easy to be the first to explore new lands, so as a big thank you to all those adventurers out there who did just that – this weekend will be a server-wide double adventuring kill experience event.

Event start and end times will correspond with the daily server restarts:
STARTS: Saturday, March 3rd, 5:00am PST (Friday, March 2nd, 8:00pm PST for Europeans)
ENDS: Monday, March 5th, 5:00am PST (Sunday, March 4th, 8:00pm PST for Europeans)

Flying Mount Quests Coming
Several quests that will enable players to ‘test drive’ flying mounts that they will one day acquire will be implemented on each continent soon. They will be in the mid teen level range.

You would not believe the outbursts this info has caused on some other forums. 10+ page threads on how bad it is etc etc. I think its great, let the slaughter commence (friday 8pm)

As for the flying mounts....<sits humming the theme to Dam Busters and Battle of Britain>...

Disappointed here as well, oh well. I guess its good its not double xp quest weekend. But maybe its not gonna be that big a deal how much xp is gleaned from kills anyway not near as much as a quest.

I will surely not be grinding out levels just because double xp weekend

The flying mount thing seems good

I read a post over at the other forums where the guy said. That the avg player level is 15 now and sigil's curve showed maybe 18-19. If this is so then would they expect lvl 50 players in three months time. I to was hoping for a vast journey and I probably still will get one the way i play all spheres, im only lvl 12.

I'm puzzled that they did this at all, given that not long ago someone (Brad?) posted that the fastest levellers were already about 20% faster than Sigil had anticipated. I have no links, sorry - I just remember reading it somewhere, probably Silky Venom or the weekly roundup, in the last few weeks.

That said, this smacks of SOE marketing. EQ2 had several of these in the time I was playing. Vanguard has been out more or less a month now, and this kind of thing is just the ticket for enticing a few new subscriptions. I may have my doubts as to the long-term use of such weekends (not to mention its unfairness to large segments of the gaming population, but that's not unusual), but I can see how it's a winner from a marketing standpoint. In that sense I hope it's a rousing success - I want Vanguard to get the subs it needs in order to prosper. No point having the greatest game in the world if it folds after 18 months through lack of players.

Exactly what I was thinking. SWG did it on a semi regular basis as well. Not fond of it personally.

You know, I don't remember those in SWG. That said I haven't played it since just before the NGE (and that was a comeback for old times' sake), and even when I *did* play all I did with my *cough/shame* 3 accounts was craft. ;-)

You realize that this coincides exactly with the period in which most VG players will have to pay to continue their account? The free months ends, and at the very end they provide a nice little double XP weekend to retain some of the players that would be leaving otherwise...

That said, it won't matter much. There's basically zero XP in killing mobs anyways, so there won't be a lot of change.
