Actually I was the first to complete it in Beta - I was working on it and waiting as each step was added.

I was first in beta only cos not many ppl could get past the first npc (she was borked and HARD to get to advance the dialog, now she is like all over the camp in quadruplicate and MUCH easier to advance) I was likely not even close to first in live - I didn't get to that quest till day 4 ;P

I've done it 2x now, so it definately works - if you are stuck send me a PM - or if you are on Thunderaxe, I will look for you and contact you (I play toooooo many alts to bother listing and making it hard for you to find me) to help you through it.

I am about to likely start on it with my friend Fri or Sat, I did it up to the Orcbane part on the 3rd char I'm running through that area.

It's worth doing, for my shammy the final reward was crap ;P in beta the first phase reward was the best part but thats cash now instead lol. BUT its a GREAT quest line story and fun wise and some great epic battles and 'effects' - and I got several very good drops doing it. The yellow weapons are good if you do it level appropriate I am guessing but the focus for shaman was mostly useless to me.

Well what do I talk to in the camp when I get there? I've already freed the juggler and done the free the slaves quest. Going into the camp dosn't allow me to interact with any more slaves, however the ones being tormented have the blue sword/shield/... icon above their head.

I would really like to agree with you on this, but i find groups exceedingly hard to come by. In 18 levels i have had 1 group for about an hour. Maybe i should spam the shout channel like so many others do , but i always thought of this as rude to other players. I am on gul server , and to be honest , it is rare that i even see more then 1 person at a time that is my level.

This is a good all around game , as i have experienced it so far. I just have nightmares of the hours lfg that i spent in eq1. It would be nice if everyone had a core group of friends that they could always group with and therefore limit this aspect of the game. For some of us though , we have no such contacts , and in the time i have played my interactions with others have been very few. This is not because i want them to be that way , it is because that is just the way it has been.

In order for a group orientated game to work , there must be a significant player base. I find that is not the case here. Hopefully that will change.

Perhaps this is a server-specific problem. I have never looked for a group without finding one. Granted, I don't look often, but I also watch the ooc channel, and I rarely see anyone make an lfg or lfm for more than 15 minutes at a time.

I agree with Shinto - I rarely have problems finding a group. I do make use of the public channels though. I consider it significantly less rude than most of the conversations that take place over the /shout or /ooc channels. Also, the game is huge. While you may rarely run into people that are close to your level, they are definitely out there. Try doing an /ooc lfg on occasion, I think you may find groups are not as hard to come by as they may appear to be.

Yep, xp is up for sure. I got in my first real group last night (went from 1 -> 13 solo pretty much) and went from 13 -> 15 without much trouble at all. If it wasn't so late I could have probably gotten 16 as well I'm sure (already 13% toward 16).

....There is a phrase the market is always right. Meaning what people do is always the right answer whether it's a desirable answer or not. I personally object to the paris hilton culture that is growing like something in a petri dish, but when it comes down to it I can whine all day and all night, but I won't change it. The same goes with the soloing/grouping schism.

Vanguard by what I've seen has done a pretty good job of balancing the group minded vrs those of us who like to play with ourselves . I'm sure I'll have to get more groups as I go up in level but then there is the entire diplo/crafting side of the game which is something we can do when the spouse is out of town. or to make Scrubs reference #3432 "hello cinemax".

People shoudl voice thier wants and needs about a game, even one with such a clear vision as vanguard. Yeah sometimes the result in such a thing is WoW, and who'se ever moneyman/dev's little girl had a warlock and hunter and through the concept of balance out the door. but other times it lets a good game become a great game as places the orginal designer hadn't thought out well enough or simply goofed in the orginal caculations.

(granted the one's who come in and start caterwauling "this game sucks, this game sucks big camel toes cuz I can't do it well and everything and everyone should change to fit my needs"...gets a little old but treat it like getting knocked off your horse and either run or kill. I'd hesitate pretty long before I told anybody "don't like it, get over it." Everythign can be better with the right mixture of comprimise and creative solution.)
