ffs sigil !!!
This is gonna be one of those angry posts ppl just love so much
![]() Here I am, on my way to Silverlake in Thestra, when my game CTD while crossing chunkline from renton to trengal keep. I then start my game back up, and find myself floating in air, which soon stops as Im thundering downwards into the ground...dead. I then release and find myself by the altar in Trengal keep. I go find my tombstone, and follow the road towards the main road i was on earlier. I then come all the way to the south gate I believe its called, where 6 lvl 26 mobs are standing right on the path I wish to go....which is the only path as its through the gate. Just upgraded my horse to tier2 yesterday, bought some nice leather armor for it, and well... though it could at east get a lucky break at this point. But noooooo I dont even get near the gate, as I son cross the insanely long aggro distance border for the gateguarding mobs, and bang...im dead...again. I then release and find myself at the alter, and while standing there thinking how I am gonna get my corpse back... I get aggroed again... by patrolling mobs... Who with just 2 cents for a brain places the altar right next to road which is patrolled by angry mobs, that have again... this insanely long aggro distance so they just bust me right up again, without having moved an inch. I was in a group earlier at tomb of lord tsang, and I got 90+ on all my loot rolls... guess I just ran out of luck :/

In the Vault of Heroes, back when I was doing quests there, I'd occasionally get attacked at the alter by Gnolls, and at the alter-bindstone junction at Vaskells Exchange, I went afk for ten minuites and came back dead. Crazyness.

Eh I'm not sure if the Exchange issue was a train from hell or something, but I'm sure the VOH one can be replaced somewhere better -- I've often seen Gnolls just STANDING by it.

yea, they really should have gone to the WoW route here.. go invulnerable until you get back to your tomb!
OR.. reduce the penaltys for recalling your tomb significantly. OR.. Extend the invulnerability time by ALOT more.. something needs to be done here because players are just getting angry and quitting - not good for the health of the game, especially as bugs are already annoying causing people to quit. |

The idea is to make this a last-ditch option. If the penalty wasn't very severe, then why would anyone bother to find their corpse? 3) Bindable items. The only reason you spawn with no equipment is because you choose to (a choice I usually make as well). Sigil has a nice balance with the death system. Put the time into getting your corpse and save on exp loss, get your corpse summoned, but take a huge exp hit, or float in the middle by spawning with your weapons and armor (making it much easier to get your corpse back). True, it stinks when you die because of a bug and take a big exp hit, but you can't design a policy around a bug. Eventually, the bug gets fixed.

I can totally see where your coming from Nil, and logically I find it hard to disagree if im honest.
But you just cant deny how much this pisses people off!.. with WoW having their system and having over 8 millions subscribers you cant say that the making something complex is nessesarily going to make for a better game! I know alot of wow players who think that TBC has ruined the game because they have tried to make it more complex. Its no good saying that you prefer a more difficult game if the game fails, or non of your friends play because they are always getting frustrated. Im not saying the game will fail because of this.. but with there being SO many complex things in Vanguard and so many frustrating things this is one aspect which I cant help but feel would be better off simpler! We live in a world where technology makes things simpler and more enjoyable, not more complex and more frustrating. While I totally agree with having depth and complexity (Im an EVE player after all) I dont think it should be more complex just the sake of it! |
