i can tell you why you will find gnolls at the alter in VoH by tahean's...
there's a slavecamp quest to rescue "the juggler". one the way back when you grab him, you get attacked twice by gnolls appearing out of nowhere, part of the struggle to rescue him. if someone on the quest only chooses to outrun them/doesn't kill them all/dies, they mill around the alter for a bit before finally leaving.

For the record, I like the difficulty of VG just fine the way it is... well except for the crafting system. And thats more a balance issue than difficulty, sort of.
Anyway, I think the adventuring system rocks. Bugs are another issue, which is what (I think) we are discussing. Now, back to exploring.... ![]() |

Kato's post is fine - I understand the impetus.
As someone pointed out however, in beta and live they have consistantly asked to be informed of things like altar placement, mobs that break parlays, situations where they need to adjust things that are not intended. The first 2 I recall on these forums they asked about. Snoman, is just trolling his VG-SOE-issues as usual. He has said he doesn't play, but can't help trying to hijack people's problems for his own agenda. I also agree that invuln should last at the altar ... indefinately, mainly cos no one will be 'exploiting' getting away from mobs by umm dying and then not moving... ![]() I also am for adding a 2-3 min invuln when chunking that is broken on movement/activity just like a crash (to save those * not me muhahahaha * with slower pcs and have lag outs with mobs near borders aggroing then slaughtering them... I don't hear about it often, but in Beta 2.5 it happened to me at level 11 2x travelling to Khal along Qa from Lomshir where lvl 20s aggroed (ya... there were 20s then on both sides) at the zone edge (sometimes, they wander) and I'd die b4 zoning. I had an old AMD2100 then ![]() WOW's death system is a joke. I know I feel dirty but waaaaay more than once I used it to bypass content and complete quests, even when I didn't - I never was cautious when soloing since there was no real danger in recovery... or penalty in death.
