Personally I love getting lost in a city, but I want to go somewhere in particular I just ask a guard for directions to the nearest but my problem with them is, they don't tell how to get to the docks, or weapon vendors, or the nearest repair place and they should.

i think they want us to get lost a few times, you dont actually see the city until you lose yourself a few times and bang!! did you see that church!!! wow so cool...

In starting cities, guards should point to the general direction of trainers that are not located in their city.

For example, the Kurash guards in the temple (starting city for Cat people) should provide direction for the crafting trainers through the gate.
"There are no such trainers, here, perhaps you should look in Lormar, through the twisted gate..."
It can be frustrating for someone completely new to VG to not know where to search for trainers, especially when the guards will provide a waypoint for the trainers that are local.

Guards should provide directions to Ranged Weapons Vendors -- I always have the hardest time finding these guys.

Well I don't think we should really have any maps at the start like in WoW they should fill out. Or a better idea would be the fact that you could by area maps very roughly drawn from vendors. Tailors could stitch more ornate maps and city maps say at level 15-20 etc and sell them in the exchange.

I like the idea that you have the whole continent at level 1 but say the quest giver takes your rough map they could still mark the location but then say "Mr XXX is around this location but you don't have a map for it." the loc of the mob would still be on your map screen but you wouldn't have the surrounding area mapped yet.

Again it's probably too late to implement this now for this game but for city maps I think it should be a crafting achievement with different levels from rough to fine detail.

i agree....but it is a lot of fun finding that secret troll cave with 5 bosses in it that drop rares....and no map to lead others to it.

Aghram guards are bugged. I tried asking for the location for a few things and none of them worked (most importantly, Warrior trainer)
