Re: Strategy guide
Dunno about the guide - for ore & stone nodes, however, think "rocks" - you won't find either of them growing out in the middle of nowhere by themselves. It's always worth going around the rock outcroppings you see just in case - and ctrl-tab will locate nearby nodes in your field of view, which can even save you from having to check every nook and cranny as you run past. Unsurprisingly, it's easier to find ore & stone in mountainous or hilly areas (or foothills) than it is on the plains.
That said, nothing beats legwork for finding metal and stone. Once you get to know an area you'll also get to know its spawns, and resources often come back in the same spot after a while - not as fast as jute pops back (man, you can just farm that stuff all day in a static location), but you can get a loop to run that'll get you a decent amount of goods after a while. I don't mind having to spend time at it. My miner, however, feels a little gypped that she has to leg it around the countryside for 2 hours for 2 stacks of ore while my reaper can farm a single 5-node field for half and hour and have the same amount of jute. But that's a whole nother topic. ;-)

Re: Strategy guide
So control tab will bring up any nodes for mining in my field of view right......and look around mountainous areas for more mines and stuff. But what i dont get i s why isent there a world of warcraft like system that is used to help you locate mines on the map. I know a lot of you don't like WoW, but it did do a lot of things right...and a lot of things wrong

Re: Strategy guide
To me, that's not wrong - it's part of the philosophy that underlies the design of the game. I *like* that I have to actively look for nodes, for instance. It will please some playstyles and irritate others - just like a lot of stuff in WoW didn't please my playstyle at all.
I'm trying hard to keep from saying one way is right and one is wrong, because that's really not the case - but each game caters to a pretty different playstyle. Some will hate one or the other, and many in the middle will find stuff to like in both - as I've said elsewhere, I think this diversity can only be a good thing for the industry in general. If everything were like WoW or like Vanguard, lots of players would be disappointed and unhappy. More choice in more games is a good thing. :-)

Re: Strategy guide
Oh, someone will in due course, I'm sure. I'll just never go look at it.
![]() Node spawns aren't entirely static - I think there's a number of different places a node can spawn in a given chunk, so if you mine at coords 1,1 it won't necessarily repop right there next time. That being said, I can run a circuit of the treant/kaon faeries area near Leth Nurae and reliably hit over a dozen ore and stone nodes each. If they're not in one spot, they'll be in the next one. Knowing your surroundings and being prepared to do legwork are part of the design of harvesting, at least I like to think so. Bear in mind that if you *don't* like mining or looking for harvestables, there are plenty of people who do. Finding one of those sad saps (I'm one of them ) might enable you to get the resources you need without having to get your hands dirty, in exchange for whatever it is you guys agree on. :-) -- Edit - what server are you on?

Re: Strategy guide
I've tended to choose skinning as one of my skills for this reason. I haven't had much time to play, so haven't really been able to play with the other skills that much. Skinning is fun, however, and I can get a good supply of pelts when I duo with my husband (he helps in the skinning).
As far as a strategy guide, what other bits of info are you interested in?

Re: Strategy guide
What I have found works for me is I made a macro that just has /targetnextnode - I think that's the right command, someone correct me if I'm wrong please!. Then, when I'm looking for nodes I can just click that button as I run around instead of having to awkwardly (well, for me) ctrl-tab while trying to move at the same time.
