"All servers currently down..." in char login screen

This is not necessarily true. I waited like a good player for about 20 minutes last night, then finally hit the play button just to see what would happen (armed with my "it was like that when I found it!" excuse)... and it logged me in nice and neat. It's saying the same thing this morning for Shidreth, and again I logged in just fine.

Figured I would share this in case there are other credulous people like me out there who actually believe server down messages. With the changes they've made to server login / char creation, I'm not quite sure at what point we actually access the servers anymore, so it can be hard to tell if they're really up or down.

My apologies if this has already been noted elsewhere. I'm pre-caffeinated, I may have missed it.

I never pay attention to the up/down messages generally if you get a "Play" button the server is up if its greyed out its down at least thats how it seems to me.

Are you able to get in Fraya? I've tried several different attempts and cannot get in today.

Yeah, this was another issue that was cropping up for me and a few other people I talked to in game. It's not the message we're getting right now (assuming the servers are still down), and it didn't include the server name in red.

As you note, the Play button was enabled in the situation I described above, which it isn't right now. It's possible the latest patch got rid of it and it's now old news anyway. In any case, your method is probably the most foolproof. If you can hit the PLAY button, Bob's your uncle.

Well at the moment the servers really are down for a patch. ETA for bringing them back up is 12:45pm PST.
