Re: Your first day impressions
It was great, I crafted a good bit. I am a level 4 artificer and a level 5 vulmane necro. I went to bed at normal hours, still have to wait several more days on my graphics card to get here. I have things pretty much on high except grass its as 24%, also no AA, but I do have HDR and tone mapping enabled and it adds must have effects. But I needed a new card anyway for crysis, assassin's creed, LOTRO online and other upcoming game.
The game is great and well worth the money, I had to convince myself to go to bed as not to get my days and nights mixed up. I have to get up at 7AM monday to go to work. |

Re: Your first day impressions
For the graphical issues, turning down some of your settings might help - I turn down or off things like shadows, reflections, lighting options and stuff on my client, because my graphics card isn't very good. It doesn't look nearly as good as it does for others, but it runs reasonably well. That said, without knowing what kind of card & rig you have, it's hard to offer suggestions.
In the short term, typing /flush at intervals might help. I use it regularly and it seems to help prevent crashes. I did have a link to a post about .ini file tweaking and other stuff, but it seems to have got lost in my bookmark reshuffle - maybe the hardware forum here will have some pointers for you. As for the chat - if you want to wave to someone specific, target them and type /wave -- it's a preset emote and will just do it. (For a long list of those, type /listcommands emote and see what comes up. )Talking locally, within a dozen or so metres, is just a case of typing "/say Your text here" (only without the quote marks). /tell Ysharros hello! ... will send someone called Ysharros a private tell no matter where they are (and /reply, or just /r will respond to the last person who sent *you* a tell). By default you should be in regional chat, which covers a pretty wide area and can be accessed by typing "/1 Your text" (again, no quotes). Hope that helps. ![]() |

Re: Your first day impressions
I've been having an awesome time in game. Never got a chance to play in beta cause I didn't have the computer for it, so I didn't get to see changes and whatnot, but that's fine....spent many hours last night, and going to spend many more over the weekend........have to recharge the mouse between long runs

Re: Your first day impressions
My pleasure.
![]() The servers will likely be doing that up-down thing for some time - VG is a hugely ambitious game with so much going on, I'm surprised it's been as stable as it is. Most launches are pretty ropey - WoW wasn't great, SWG was more down than up, etc etc. As someone said elsewhere, it's hard to plan for something that only happens once. ![]() Course I'm being reasonable now... but I'll be jonesing pretty soon, I'm sure. ![]() |
