Re: In game mail
The mail system works similar to WoW's. You can mail items and items purchased from the Market system will be sent to your mailbox. There were no time delays in mailing items in Beta but there were shipping charges involved in sending and receiving items. No drop or soulbound items could not be mailed as far as I know.
I really hope they make delays in the mail system, especially sending to different continents. I would also love to see more player interaction in the mail system. For example a package delivered from Thestra to Qualia could be set to take 3 in game days, but if a PC were to check in with the postal NPC in the city it was mailed, they could pick up a quest to deliver that package. If they completed it in the time alotted they would recieve the shipping fees instead of having the game eat the money. If they did not deliver it in time. The system would auto-deliver the package and the players quest would fail. Pony Express anyone? |

Re: In game mail
That's a very interesting idea, Fyre. They would need to have an "insurance" feature though that would go ahead and delivery the package if said PC hadn't made it there on time. A timer marking down the time alotted like you said.

Re: In game mail
The only way a system like this would work would be to make in-game email non-instant. Make mailing something really hurt. A package from Leth to BC could take 2 days game time (144 mins), for a cost of say 2 silver. Now a PC walks up and reads the postings of packages and can pick up 3 at a time. Load up the packages and travel to BC in say 25mins real time. And make a quick 6 silver.
The only downside I can see is if the user take packages and then logs off. There would need to be some way of returning those back to the available packges, maybe use the No Rent mechanic for these types of quests where if you are offline for more than 15 minutes they are removed. Not sure how feasible this idea is from a database standpoint, but it would really add to the immersion of the game, while allowing a mail system to exist. |

Re: In game mail
2 solutions to the mail problem.
1: mail auto delivers and is removed when the time for the mail quest runs out (easier but not good rp wise) 2: delivering player pays an insurence fee which is returned to him when delivered. If it doesnt make it, the item is "replaced" and delivered by npcs. Mail with no items could be instant delivery |
