Names do youn want to see...

the naming policy enforced...

aka no more names like

The Greatone
Iam Wonderful

Sham Thenoob

me personally i'm all for it to see only real type names... you know something that requires thought and doesn't remind me i'm probably playing with a 12 yrs old(and yes i have a son that age and if i catch him acting like some i see he's banned).

Re: Names do youn want to see...

I agree with you completely, I am on the same boat as you, For me when i see someone running around called Fishsticks it slowly ruins my experience in game. This necessarily does not mean i have to be a roleplayer, It just means i find names like that to be childish nonsense. I honestly have never understood why anyone would want to name a character something like that.

But this is my opinion, Nobody take it to heart we all have our own!

Re: Names do youn want to see...

I'm hoping that the naming policy Sigil has implemented will stop these kind of names from coming up, and the best thing you can do if you see someone with an immersion-breaking name is to report them. I think Sigil agree with you and many, many other fans out there when it comes to character naming, I don't think they had the naming policies active during beta though.

We'll see on Friday I guess, I for one will be reporting any idiotic name I see that slips through the net.

Agreed, I REALLY hope they put this into action, Especially for PVP servers. Nothing is worse then being jumped from behind by someone named IpWnNubz...Ugh..

Re: Names do youn want to see...

it's just so asinine... it's a fantasy game.. and yeah i don't think things were in effect for beta...

but on eq1 once i saw aq name i flagged to every gm i could find that got through.. "toucheschildren" was one of the worst i saw.. never mind the stupid ones. Iamgnolleater, ipfreely etc.

me personally.. i see one of those names that are clearly stated as being banned in the policy, that person to me is going to be ignored. they take away from the game and show a clear lack of thought on their part.

I agree. The only acceptions I can see to the "no names shall form phrases" rule is something like a barbarian with a name like Skullcrusher, wood elf with Winddancer or vulmane with Bristlecoat something. The barbarians and vulmane are very tribal and I can see them using names like this, much in the way of Native Americas: Kicking Bird, Running Bear, etc.

Just nothing like: Xerox TheCopierofChoice.

hehehe speaking of which.. all through beta i used the last name "raventears" playing a barb of course. i would think tribal names are alright for sure.. it's the ones like Xerox..yeah... nevermind the fact that trademarked names are banned.

Re: Names do youn want to see...

Ahah well said Kethra, I agree with you definately when i seen Barbarians in Everquest 2 with names such as Bonecrusher and such i thought of it as a nickname of sorts.

Another thing that bothered me with the whole first and last name thing was names like, Imright'behindyou, Especially in Everquest 2 people would put the ' then something silly afterwards.

Re: Names do youn want to see...
