While I can't really give suggestions (as I haven't decided what I'll be playing yet either! We'll see what happens when I hit that character creation screen!), I will point you to our WikiSphere where we are gathering many good tidbits about the races and classes, plus much more!

We've recently added some nice lore bits on each race taken from the introductory letters to each player when you create a new character. Cobalt Katze (also staff here) also compiled a Kill on Sight Chart for those worried about visiting foreign lands without a bodyguard!
