A 10k budget is quite a budget! You can get a pretty high end system these days for $2-3k so with 10K you could get a couple!
 If money were no object I would definitely pickup one of the quad SLI systems with a 30 inch flatscreen monitor. I'd slap at least 4gigs of ram into it and one of the new generation processor like the AM2 or Conroe core from Intel. Add to that a slew of WD Raptors just because you can. You might go with a physics processor as well to offload some of the load from your CPU/GPU. With a 10k budget though the sky is pretty much the limit.

Hi Mobius welcome to the board.
As to your hardware question unless you have a specialist application I would create a good games machine for about $4.000 and put the rest into a upgrade fund. Technology is starting another spurt. A $10,000 system today will be old tech in a few years. |

Is anyone home?
Hello everbody,
Just wanted to stick my head in and look around, read and post some. A little gaming background... Played a rogue in EQ1 from launch til EQ2 launch. Now I play a brigand in EQ2, but I am bored with it already. Looking forward to Vanguard.
