OK, first things first, yes ... I clearly am insane for adding yet another Vanguard-related forum to my regular rounds, but here I am.

I mean, I'm not even sure the game is going to be all that good ... but here I am. Don't get me wrong, I want it to be good. I'm desperately hoping for it to be good. Because there's a little slot on my weekly calendar called "gaming," and I simply don't have anything to fill it with right now.

Oh, yes, sure, you're right. There are simply loads of quality single-player games out there, but you know, I end up feeling like a puppy when I play them ... they attract my attention for about 10 minutes, then something else more interesting, like a ham sandwich, comes waltzing by and I forget the damned thing even existed.

I'm pretty much an mmo kind of guy these days. Which means I'm pretty much not playing anything right now. SWG, my first real interest, is dead to me, and I've pretty well lost interest in WoW .. not because of the game so much but because I just don't have a good community to play with over there. I've dabbled in other games, but I'm a big fan of nice graphics, so I haven't really been able to get into many of the existing titles. I thought EQ2 might be fun, but lost interest in that one on my first night when a fish jumped out of the water and chased me overland, nipping at my heels. Guffawing at poorly designed mobs and immersion do not mix, let me tell you. Eve was interesting, but damn it, would it be so hard to let a guy get out of his spacehip and take a leak now and then?

So I'm here, at Vanguard website No. 2,345 on my list of regular rounds, keeping vigil ... on sigil (This pun copyrighted by the National Pun Association. Any use, description or account of this pun is prohibited without express written consent of the NPA) ... hoping for a fun game in an immersive world with a community worth sticking around for.

Will I .. we ... get it? Dunno, but it's fun to dream about in the meantime.
