Here's two that show this to be a fallacy:

Dark Age of Camelot (the Albs were the Zerg)
World of Warcraft (at least before the expansion)

Id disagree with the wow counterpoint, In my experience, most of the pvp (At least in WSG, AV, AB) was dominated by horde. Gogo shamans. Not sure post expansion, because I stopped playing about 3-4 months ago.

On the server I played on (Stormreaver) there were definetely more alliance than horde. But i always heard rumors of horde out numbering alliance on other servers.

Check the PvP servers and you'll see Horde outnumbers Alliance on almost all of them. PvE players tend to like pretty things, thus Alliance vastly outnumbers horde on RP (especially) servers and regular PvE servers as well.

In addition (although this is kind of off-topic, sorry...), does anyone know if PvP servers are expected to follow the vast RP rules that are in place? I've read through the Beta Manual (I didn't get to play at all), and it seems like this game is really RP oriented. Now, I have nothing against RP, per se, but I really don't want to be around it and definitely don't feel like I have to abide by their rules. Are there regular PvE/PvP servers (I know, no different RP PvP servers right now, I checked the list), versus RP PvE servers, or am I expected to use /ooc everytime I want to converse in game?

Thanks in advance

Edit: I know I sound like a snob when I say, "I...definitely don't feel like I have to abide by their rules," but that's not exactly how I mean it. I mean, moreso, that I don't want to have to name my character something that would actually be a name in this fantasy world and have to talk in character if I want to get someone to join my group. It's something I'm not interested in doing, and feel they shouldn't force it upon their users.

There is currently only one official RP preferred PvE server, that's the US Florendyl server. Everywhere else it's kinda player choice on RP.

There is a strict naming policy, however, that will be enforced across all servers, no matter RP preferred or not. You may not have to talk in character, but the character name will need to abide by the rules set forth by Sigil.

Yeah, I read through that... Seems a little over the top strict, in my opinion. I understand the first few rules about vulgar names, names of other people, media references, etc; but not being able to have the first and last name form a phrase, names being sentences, and names not relating to the world seems a bit too strict. I have a priest in WoW named Bandages, and I don't think that would fit into the world, but it's not an offensive name or something that should be renamed. Of course, this is my opinion and I'll still play the game, no matter how many times they change my name

Re: PvP "team" Ruleset

I think most of the naming policy's objective is to give them grounds for removing any name they feel needs to be removed. I doubt its enforcement will be incredibly strict.

Re: PvP "team" Ruleset

Im not really speaking from experience but if you look at the racest alowed to pick in those teams, the Order of Alurad have basically all the humans. who stats wise can be just the same as each other.

so it looks like the Order of Alurad have more races to pick from but actually there isnt that much difference
