Where can I obtain key? Aside from Pre-order?

Hey all.
I am a little confused, maybe someone can help me here.

I have read that Vanguard is set to Open Beta. But every where I look it says you have to pre-order to get into beta.
Well is Open Beta and Pre-Order Beta the same thing all of a sudden?

Or can I really download the client and install and begin playing, since it is in Open Beta status? I find it odd that they would not have a link up anywhere explaining this or just letting us know we dont have to pre-order unless we want early access now.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks for any assistance.

It is a bit confusing, but by "open beta" I believe Sigil meant, Beta without NDA. I believe you have to have pre-ordered or have already been in closed beta in order to play.

Open Beta is stage 5 of the beta process. The pre-order campaign that started in December offered guaranteed access to Open Beta. This was accessed via a key (alphanumerical keycode) that came with the pre-order - either with the disc from a retail version or via email if a digital pre-order.

You do have to have a key to get into the beta, no matter what stage. Unless you had a key through the pre-order, through the Fileplanet promotion (they gave out keys if you subscribed to Fileplanet and I think now they're giving free keys away to whomever), from a previous closed beta invitation, you can't get in.

People like to preorder for other reasons: assuring a copy, anticipation and excitement about actually having a key, etc etc.

After all that... open beta is closing on the 23rd of this month (ie in 2 days).

Thats kind of what I was assuming. I really think Vanguard looks like a good game. My bro is playing plus a few others, they like it so far.

I want to get in and see the classes, how they meld with the world and try some of the PVP. Pretty much all I was trying to do before purchasing a copy come the 30th. I wont purchase it without seeing it first hand though (I have bad MMORPG Fearism over here).

Is the pre-order 9.99 like some others or is it 50 bucks and then when its in just pick it up? And if I pre-order do they give me a disk in a retail store. Or will I still have to DL it via the net?

I got my pre-order from EB and they charged me $5 (or you can pay the whole thing if you want). In the DVD like case you get a DVD with a partial beta client. The SOE patcher then installs the rest when you use your "beta key" that come in the DVD Beta case. I hope that helps.
