Re: Sigil you are a bit unkind to us in Europe

I do feel that it's too easy for Americans or people living outside of the EU to say things like what Aadwen said. After all, we Europeans do pay our monthly fees and the price for the game itself and I just feel that we deserve a bit more than just one or two servers at launch etc. I also think that events need to be set at appropiate times both for the USA and the EU so that both sides of the pond get a fair look in.

Just my tuppence worth!

I'm not sure I agree with this point, as they're setting up the servers based on their expected amount of players. If they set up 10 servers but only have enough players to fill one server, then you'll have 10 empty servers.

Alot of this is based on pre-orders.

I would not want more servers than I had fellow gamers. If they get more people than expected, they'll get more servers up.

Is isn't a EU vs. US argument, just pointing out that you don't want more servers than you have players.

Back on the original topic, I never understood why they didn't get their EU customer support group going during beta. It's help them get up to speed and it'd solve this problem here.

Re: Sigil you are a bit unkind to us in Europe

Have not seen any mention of European support ? I just assumed the customer support team in US worked shifts covering 24/7.

Also there has been a lot of confusion over here about pre-orders only in the last few days I and my guild found a european pre-order site.

Still never spotted a UK magazine article on Vanguard (not that I read many nowdays).

Just maybe the reason that Europe only gets one server is that not many European players know about it or believe it is a US only game. It is certainly not a lack of potentual customers. Vanguard suits the more conservative european player base far more than games like WoW.

i have a dutch friend who said he wouldn't be playing because it wasn't good for euros... i keep hoping he will change his mind.

as a side note... i am NOT american, and i really didn't like a previous poster's comments about it being an american game(not the fact that it's made by americans... but the attitude) etc... it is comments like that, that have propmoted an avid dislike for americans online in a lot of forums i have read over the years.

"we are the world" means the world, not just one country.

This is the reson for this:

Due to errors on the part of SoE / Koch media the media party in Europe seem to be blissfully unaware of Vanguards existence let alone iminenet release. Most places I tend to get my software from did not even get information till 2 weeks before launch, and I know some people in my pre release guild can only get the standard rather than collectors edition in their country.
Yes its a new game so theres bound to be teething problems, and yes its a US game so I know most of the timings will be based on the US, somethign I got used to with EQ 1 but Europe are only recently being told of Vanguard so are missing a lot of the pre-release hype. This will obviously improve once the game and audience becomes established but SoE / Sigil need a serious word with the European distributors.

Re: Sigil you are a bit unkind to us in Europe

The main point of the griffon giveaway was not to test the griffons or to give the beta testers some fun, but to get a whole lot of people on the server at the same time. It was a thinly veiled stress test, and they cleverly got people to load things up by giving away griffs. SO, to accomplish it, they did it at peak time for their largest online presence. That's all, no nefarious discrimination or any favoritism, just the best time to test something.

We understand that, but they still wanted to test stuff at the high level end with level 30 guys, they could have left it there long enough for us europeans to try it.

We understand the event wasn't accommodating for Europeans, and we do apologize. However, due to the speed at which these events developed we were unable to make the NPC's persistent, this means that anytime the chunck crashes the NPC's would need to be manually respawned by a GM. Unfortunately we did not have event staff assigned to European prime time.

We will be as accommodating as possible post launch for European servers, and we will bring servers online as the needs arise. In beta our events were to test, not only our servers and mechanics, but also our event process. We've learned a lot and will use this experience and apply it to the future.

Thanks for your feedback and concern folks, if you ever feel we could do a better job please email suggestions to community@sigilgames.com.

Thanks all!

No offence but a lot of my Guildmates in my European Guild managed to get both the Beta buffers so it was possible

My bold, This is the thing people seem to forget in these "arguments". Yes personally I think there should be more than 1 EU server but obviously Sigil think they'll be able to cope with just one at launch and its their decision, but at the end of the day compalining about Beta events being based around a US timescale is a bit stupid in my opinion as obviously they want to test it at not only one of their peak times, but when they've actually got the employees available to monitor the reactions. I know this close to launch the devs will do extended days, but they have to go home at some point, so asking them to do events to test a mechanic at 6 in the morning is a bit harsh.

If it continues after launch there will be cause to complain however as Elrar says:

they will obviously have a more rolling customer service timing after launch as that is what a company is expected to do, not when it is still testing. Oh and p.s. for the record I am European so i'm used to getting the rough end of the stick but over the years it has improved
