I can only see this happening in a raid situation. You wont run a low level dungeon 30 times, you will for surely gain multiple levels during the times you do run it to get better items in a different dungeon. But in end game this can happen and is why guilds have DKP systems. Last edited by Eyse Gage : 12-24-2006 at 06:24 AM. |

Re: Ninja Looting
Please don't run a low level dungeon 30 times :P
And I agree, if you are going to run a higher level dungeon 30 times it is probably in a guild and then they should have some kind of dkp system in place. Or they just know that you really want that item and no one can use it better. |

Re: Ninja Looting
I said it was an item that did not "benefit" me as per the hive-mind's guidelines. There won't be a "better" item.

Then when you join the group, you say something like, "I'm here only for the Lace Stockings of Eternal Torment." If the group allows you to come even through your Paladin has little use for the Lace Stockings, then it's all good. If they say, "Sorry" then you don't join. It's that simple. I always run NBG in my groups. It only makes sense (though, I would make an exception for the guy who was up-front about what he was after. We usually just let him have it without a roll - assuming he wasn't a dink).

Re: Ninja Looting
NBG is usually a good policy in pickups imo, in games where you have a younger audience little johnny in your group might not understand that he being a paladin doesn't need that rogue only uber dagger to sell to the vendor so he can stock up on Holy Spegetti O's, you can experience this situation quite often in WoW. I say screen who you group with before you can try to feel em out before grouping with them when you know there are going to be nice items dropping that you might want.

Re: Ninja Looting
Hello everyone, Happy New Year to you all.
As for the NBG (need before greed), i use to think it was fair, however in the last few years, a few folks use that term and end up selling for real world money. One would think NBG should be fair, but when you see that character/player again the next day without that item and ask him, hey wheres that nice item you won yesterday? and he says oh i sold it on a website. However thou, if its within guild or group of friends, sure NBG would be fine. Basically imo (in my opinion), the NBG is/are being taken advantage these days by gold/items sellers/farmers. If the group I was with are close friends or good friends whom I know, sure I would not mind one bit about NBG, for I know (so far), they are sincere about it. Its with the random PUG (pick up groups) that I disagree here on NBG. And not all PUGs are bad, some you do befriend with and do many quest/adventures with. Guess what I am trying to say is, if the group uses NBG system, make sure its stated when you form up, when you join the group and know what the loot system is, not last minute, oh me me me, i need it for my alt (that actually happened a few times). Thes are just my views and opinion from what I have seen in the past. edit. bah am new to this sorry, dont know how to quote what others said ![]() but mobius mentioned it in his last sentence. Happy New Year everyone. Last edited by Ravenstorm : 12-29-2006 at 12:08 PM. |

Re: Ninja Looting
Hmm. I don't call that ninja looting.
My ninja looting story follows. In these days loot drops were not shown in text. They had no way to do that yet. ( Eq 1) Location was Elrolsi Marr sometime in the first year open. I followed at my own risk the first raid to take down Naggy in solusek B. Someone looted that dragon first kill of all no drop class specific drops and gated out. That is ninja looting. Yes the player was kicked from the game when his inventory was found to contain the items but still......!

It all depends on the looting rules being used by the group. If you are in a group that's doing 'need before greed' and don't have an agreement in place for that certain item then you would just be a thief. Do it very often and you'll find nobody worthwhile will group with you or want you in their guild, saw it happen to a few people in EQ. |
