Will Wow Players be flamed?

Ive played alot of MMORPG in my day. Ive played Final Fantasy the old Eq1,Eq2 and SWG and alot more. I even played World of Warcraft. And right now im playing EQ2. Ive noticed that alot of EQ2 players do not like WoW (World of Warcraft). And alot of them show alot of agression towards the game. And even the players in some groups make fun of WoW. And i know that most EQ1 players do not like WoW as well. (Now this is my opinion of my server what ive noticed. Might be diffrent on other servers) I was woundering if when the Wow players stop playing to join the VG players. Will they be harrassed or made fun of at times? I know Wow and VG and games like VG like EQ1 and EQ2 are a little diffrent then Wow. That Wow is .... a bit more simple... And i know that the Wow players will also bring alot of younger players to the game. Do VG players want younger players? And i do not mean young as a bad thing. Im talking bout the young'ns that spam the channels.

While I think there is alot of hate right now towards WoW and the WoW playerbase. I think when the game is released everyone will let it go. Right now there are very few hot topics to talk about and sadly WoW is one of them. People want something to talk about and/or complain about, so they take it to WoW. Some have good clean arguments while others are just not very nice people and taking it out on current/previous WoW players.

When the game goes live I think everyone will let it go and everyone will be part of the Vanguard playerbase. After all, when you join Vanguard that is just what you are. A Vanguard community member.

I also have played/kinda randomly still play WoW. It is a fun game. Although I do tend to attatch the stereotype of "young immature players" to the WoW genre, I know not all of the people that play are that way. Hopefully the maturity of the Vanguard Community will shine through to complete the positive experience.

I've recently started playing WoW again and I remember what I hated about the game its the players not the game. I don't like little kids playing the games that I play, they bring an immaturity to the table that can't be ignored. When fifteen year olds and younger play a mmo they just can't behave themselves for the most part, the anonymity of the game just frees their inhibitions and they just get buck wild. It's my personal hope that wow players keep playing WoW and don't cross over to Vanguard I'm sure loads of people will disagree with me and bring their points, but it won't change my feelings about the subject.

When I started playing WoW it was fun but after sometimes the arrogance and immaturity of some players spoiled the game and when you get to lvl 60 and start extended hours of raiding + the drama of some kiddos it really started to get boring.

It`s quite simple,take a look at VG forums and WoW forums the difference is crystal clear

I know that I can speak for all of my fellow officers in my WoW guild that we can not wait for Vanguard to come out. We are actually announcing to the guild tonight that we are shutting down shop and moving on to VG as soon as it is released. For the most part are core in WoW is old EQ players and the biggest grip I hear about WoW is the immature kids. Trying to run a raid with 14 year olds is just unbearable!

I hope that Sigil keeps the dificulty in VG at a level that all of those brats stay in WoW.

I don't really think there will be a lot of WoW hating as long as the level of maturity is there. I think that most of the WoW haters are that way because WoW basically killed EQ. That's just my opiion....

In the end how will they know you played WoW unless you tell them!!

Well... EQ never really died. Just got a bit smaller. But Wow dident kill EQ. EQ players do not like Wow becuase it is mostly a pop game. ITs populer becuase its dosent ask much from the pc. If u notice. Most WoW players are new to this Genre. And most Wow players are a bit cocky. They think they are real good. When .... Wow is just an easy game to play. Very simple for the young'ns. And ive player almost evvery MMORPG>

I completely disagree with this. I know for a fact that the server consolidations done 2005 were a direct effect of people leaving EQ for EQ2 and WoW. Many people left EQ when WoW came out and I will agree that they found WoW to be too easy and were not satisfied it at all. Some went back to EQ but most went on to other games because they found that the EQ they left was not the EQ they came back too. The proof that WoW had a significant effect on EQ can be seen in the latest EQ expansions that focus largely on quests and really have a WoW feel.

As far as players thinking they are great you get those egos in all games. Some people play the game to make them feel superior, I just play because it saves me 100's of dollars a month in bar bills !!

I will agree that WoW is way too easy and becomes boring quickly. The only reason I still play is because of the people I play with.

We could disagree about this for hours and really never come to agreement so I will agree to disagree. The bantering back and forth does pass the time at work though!

I read the first few posts in this thread and it made a little ill. I wasn't aware of the hatred toward WoW players. I recently quit WoW after playing since release. I will agree there are immature players (which you get in every game), but luckily I got into a guild with an age requirement.

There are 5 million people playing WoW, of course you are going to run into a bunch of immature, ignorant children, but you dont have to assume every WoW player is immature and full of themselves.

WoW happened to be my (UO, Diablo II, EQ, EQ2, GW, Eve-O, NWN) 8th MMO, sure it might have been easy but it passed the time. WoW is the kind of game where you sit down, have a bunch of beers and raid for hours, pvp a bit, and hang out with good peoples.
