Re: Will Wow Players be flamed?
The reason that is my friend is simple..alot of the fam base here...for the most part are veteren players..thats are looking for parts of what made EQ1 so incredible..and WOW is viewed as a cartoonish game...where most of the player base is immature kids who think Bart Simson is there Savior and Fine Dining is heading to the nearest Mc Donalds.Taco bell ...and people with that mentality make for unsavory playmates...in chat as well as in game ..hehe ? maybe thats a little overboard..but you get the point ..

Re: Will Wow Players be flamed?
You would be suprised at how many of those Kids you say play wow are adults. Do they act like kids? Yes. At least they have the Give it to me now(TM) attitude. This isn't new either. It just wasn't as prevalent before "easier" mmos hit the general public.
I don't really like the WoW vs EQ1 argument. Its not the game its the attitude of the group of players that bother people. Even I fall in to stereotyping these players as more prevalent in WoW. Thus telling the whiny "give it to me now"(TM) crowd to go back to it. The group of players that like things the way they are usually do not post about how much they injoy the way things are. Maybe we should. Rao

Re: Will Wow Players be flamed?
Why was it necessary to bring up the PVP vs. PVE argument in this thread?
There are alternative rulesets for a reason. Some people like the unexpected and some like things to be the same every time. There's room for both groups. This is (hopefully) especially true of VG where Brad has gone on record saying that the game is designed so that they can change things for PvP that won't affect PvE and vice versa, so we won't see PvE players punished because a skill is overly effective in PvP, and we shouldn't see "It'll be overpowered in PvE" as an excuse for why they won't fix a PvP issue.

Re: Will Wow Players be flamed?
Yes there are alternate rulesets for a reason. It was just one of the many things people feel strongly about. And when someone feels strongly about something and they aren't getting it they do become outspoken about it. Some to the point of whining about it. Same reason some say WoW is better, Or EG.
I admit I let my view point on the subject steer my comments. Then the rouge issue was brought up and I compounded my Bias towords PvP with another derailment. Rao

Re: Will Wow Players be flamed?
The age range for WoW is 26-35. Now since when has anyone between those two ages been viewed as immature. At that age, one would think that the players can support their own game, have their own hours set, and can get beyond the Simpsons, and Taco Bell.
Many of the players I raid with are above 30, and none of them are what I would call "immature" merely because they play WoW. |

Re: Will Wow Players be flamed?
I agree with Pirotess, there are many many players in their teens. In fact, 3 of my nephews who are in their teens play WoW too.
Ofcourse, there are plenty of people in the 20+ category aswell. I mean, WoW has 7 million subs, they're bound to have different ages. ![]() The thing with wow is that you notice immature behaviour (by anyone, not just kids) in the global channels. Most of us know the infamous Barrens chat, and more recently the global LFG. Immaturity is a side effect of internet anonymity and with many many people in a game, you're bound to see it (ie: on the forums and to a lesser extent, the lfg channel)
