Spoiler site or Informantion site?

...That is the question. I have heard the terms Spoiler site, and Information site used alot of differant ways. Some say there the same thing, others belive there is a vast differance. So what's the differance, if any, in the two?

I don't belive this site, Vanguard Spheres, to be a spoiler site but an information site. There will be information about the game with out the detail of a spoiler site. But the question is this.

What is the dividing line between a "Spoiler Site" and a "Information Site"?
What should Information sites never post about?
Is there no such thing as a "Information Site" as they are all "Spoiler Sites"

I'm a purist about this. If the info isn't in the manual or the game itself looking it up online is cheating. In a game of this scope it's rather necessary I guess. It's established as the norm for MMOs. But it's still cheating.

I agree with Coinspinner. Which is why I don't want the devs to take the argument "It will be on a spoiler site anyway, so why not give it to them now?" when deciding how to make the map, quests etc

I would have to say that it depends on which side of the discussion the person answering that question is on...

A person who likes the site would say that it is a information site.
A person who dislikes the site would say that it is a spoiler site.

....personally they are information sites to me. lol

A spoiler site to me would be one that delves into information about quests, where certain items are located, and anything else a player may find to be a spoiler. So basically, all those sites dedicated to guiding players along are spoiler sites. I want to explore Vanguard on my own and be surprised by what I find, not led by the nose already what is going to happen.

The dividing line for me is the granularity of a site. If it lists the classes, their abilities and spell lists its an information site. If it lists the full step by step run down about how to do a quest or kill a boss mob, its a spoiler site.

boy thats a tough call. I am in agreement that if a site lists the classes and races and such (known game info) then that site would be more of an information site in my opinion. Sites that have item databases, quests walkthroughs, etc, would lean more to a spoiler site imho.

I am a person who loves crafting and being a master of that style of game play, which is why I usually have an issue with spoiler sites because they tend to advertise and trivialize all my hard work of discovering the crafting "secrets" by making them common knowledge. I know its just a fact that its just a matter of time before all the secrets become known, and then advertised by these sites, I just wish it wasn't so.

Fortunately, Piro and I are in agreement here!

We are headed for the area of total information site, from guilds up. This is what is needed most! There are many sites that cater to various aspects of the game, and we can all draw from each other and our expertise, and that's good!

Stay tuned, and you'll be seeing more of what we here at VS have planned. You know the old vaudville act that goes, "Sloooowly I turned. Step by step...."? Well, we may look like we're moving slow, but we're taking it step by step!

IMO There is no such thing as a spoiler site for mmo's. The only cheating in mmo's is exploiting/hacking/RMT(which I don't have a huge problem with tbh). If all the sites were bad the game company would make them shut them down. The game company would put out the info themselves but their so burnt out from making the game they let the community do it.
