For those that don't check the OVF or the devtrackers... there are teleporters that take ships from one continent to another. The long seaway there will eventually have more content/land from expansions giving you a reason to sail it. The large islands you see midway are parts of the unfinished Kojanese archa-whatever, the island cluster.

ok i like the second picture better than the first
WOW so cool!! i am so afraid that they say its big but u can cross the continent in half an hour like UO..... i want it to take a few days to cross the continent its that big!! |

I am in agreement with you Taronn, I want this realm to be massive. That is one of the most attractive things to me about this realm is the localization they are creating by not allowing instant transport and making the realm so huge.
This will create such a different environment that what most people are used to in MMO's today. With the ability to open a portal or cast a spell and be anywhere at a seconds thought gone, it will be so interesting to see how people will deal with actually having to plan their actions based on where they are in relation to where their friends are. Make travel mean something, make travel have to be planned, make travel something to do, and you increase the lifespan and interest of the game. I will have to say however that I am ok with the limited use of teleporters for boats in long ocean voyages, as I dont think anyone is hard core enough to stare at the screen for hours as they blindly sail. ![]()

I liked the implementation of their trading route feature which accelerated the trip if you stay in the shipping lane.

I Have a feeling that when u travel it is going to be a bit scary like it was in EQ-1, when I first started playing, damn it was scary I Hated dieing all the time, lol. This was of course before all the teleporting around, Hope they bring the scare factor back a little!!!

The potentual big difference is the oceans. in WoW and EQII ocean gameplay was a strip a few hundred meters from shore. Vanguard will have all ocean accessable to Boats and as a potentual gameplay zone. This alone doubles the world size.

This is just from comparison and having played WoW. It seems like it never took long to run anywhere, even running from IF to stormwind wasnt more than like an hour right? Humans had to get to SM and that wasn't that far either. So I think its gonna be alot bigger.
