Personal flying mounts - an option for VSoH?

Hello everyone,

let me introduce myself quickly as I´m new to the forums and then propose my idea for the game and Í´d be interested if you would like to see that implemented as well?

I´ve been playing some MMORPG´s (EQ II (lvl 57 Wiz, Lvl 3x Tank - stopped - to easy and therefore boring) Archlord Beta (stopped-mega boring), WOW (tried and directly stopped coz of comic and "kiddie factor") and so forth.

I´m feeling like most of you regarding Vanguard: I simply can´t wait to finally play it, because everything looks and reads so great about it.

While I´m sure that Vanguard doesn´t need any new ideas, as so many great things are already in, I would still like to bring up an idea that seems new to me and ask for your opinion:

Yesterday I have tried an offline engine demo of a game called "Dark and Light". While the engine and especially the gameplay was not so overwhelming, one thing was truly new and really exciting, that could possibly add even more fun and game content to Vanguard: You could summon personal flying mounts, from a bird to a dragon (high end mount) ;-).

Depending on the capabilities of the flying mount, you can fly high (bird) or even cross the clouds (dragon) and reach mountain tops, which normal non mounted players can´t reach. There could be special herbs, harvesting stuff or mobs and so forth.

Besides the tons of game content, that could be connected with this (think a about dragon vs dragon pvp ) you really have a majestic overview on the whole area and the higher you get the louder the wind gets. You really start to feel cold at a certain point and worry about a potential flu for your avatar

Besides that it was really cool to fly on a dragon, think about the "ooohs" and "aaahs" if someone lands near to you with a personal dragon (hearing the wings long before he is landing (sounds like "wooosh, wooosh, woooosh) , and it really is a very impressive and entertaining transport medium.

Gents, how would you like this to be added to Vanguard?

And Devs - is it possible to add something like this with the Vanguard Engine (it is quite a challenge for the GFX...)

If you could have a high end set of personal mounts with flying capabilities, like a hawk, or the special kind of bird of which I can´t recall the name but you all know what it is when you watch Harry Potter..

Uh, this is already in the game. We've been shown flying dragon mounts that fly by your command in movies. So, your dream will be reality!

Meh..actually id prefer not to see any flying mounts land mounts are great...if you want to get somewhere fast they should make porting spells like in eq (not like planes of power) to select locations that would be cool and movement altering effects that allow you to run faster as well SOW (Spirit of Wolf) (Spirit of Eagle) things like that =P.

I dont see why a maxed leveled char shouldnt be able to fly around wherever he/she wants to.

A lvl one or even a lvl 20th - naw dont think so (but they wont or shouldnt have an opportunity to get a flying mount)

Sigil have stated that the playable world extends many miles above (and I assume below) ground level. It would be amazing if this is not fully exploited. Agreed flying mounts will be in at release but I want Levitation spells, Flying carpets, Airships, Hang gliders for us lesser mortals.

Sounds good to me. That seems like a great way to help keep content from being consumed too quickly. It also seems a little more of a natural block than key farming like we did in Luclin.

Well, they've talked about under the sea stuff, so why not high in the sky? So much potential!! It can't all be done at once, thank goodness!
