SGO replies
Guys ive been laughing so hard reading the various postings from SGO employees in response to any and all postings - just a small viewing of one that really had me going.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To answer the original question - yes, there will be some form of digital download method available for Vanguard. Digital sales is a defined part of our new distribution and publishing deal with SOE, so there will be a digital download - but at this point we don't know what form it will take, what it will be priced at, or exactly when/how it'll be available. We will definitely let you know more as soon as we do. And no, I don't need 400 people to "pile on" and tell me that it should be available right at launch or don't do it at all or we won't buy the game or we we'll go on a hunger strike or we'll stop bathing and wear clothes woven from fibers recovered from old game-box packaging. We know it should be availalbe at launch - and we'll do what we can to enable that. __________________ - Taranis (RL resolves to: Jon Grande, VP - Biz and Legal Affairs, Sigil Games Online) "An attitude caused by ... knowing the actual terms of our deals." - in tribute to BigDogChris Want to ask about voices support? Re: SGO replies
I really enjoy Taranis's responses. They have a refreshing honesty that you so rarely get from a game exec and I appreciate that. Not to mention he often answers about how I would if I were in his shoes so I can relate to him.

Re: SGO replies
Exactly Piro,
I like Vanguard all the more because of the honesty that shows (or what passes for honesty at this point) from the SGO people. Brad and Taranis (lost his name again) are a welcome source of keeping me interested in the game just by reading their replies. Doesnt really matter what they say - just the fact that they converse is what matters to me. |

That date came from us. Not because it's true, but because we couldn't get you guys to stop quoting the July 11 date and we figured that this would be better than the 'OMG why r u late!?!' posts.. That being said, the game will come out this coming Winter -- just as we have said countless times before -- as has been posted in the Fact Sheet -- as has been stated at E3, in public interviews, in any public statement we have made recently. Gamestop isn't going to sell you something until we send them a disc to sell -- so I assure you, there is no circumstance wherein Gamestop, EB, BestBuy, Walmart, Circuit City, Fry's Electronics, or any other retailer is going to have a better grasp on when the game is coming out than we do. So.. please... hang in there. It's coming, but as we've said before, the game will release when it's ready. And while we may have backed away from the '2006' statement, Winter is still accurate. It may yet be 2006, but we haven't confirmed anything yet other than Winter. Thanks for your understanding... and patience? -z __________________ Zack "Ozuri" Karlsson Director, Business Development LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL and again LOL my favorite part - "And while we may have backed away from the '2006' statement, Winter is still accurate" Houston we have liftoff LOL ![]() |

Re: SGO replies
Not surprising at all. When the SOE thing happened I figured we'd get kicked back a bit.

Re: SGO replies
I would rather have the game be released winter 2007 than incomplete winter of 2006.
This would allow a excellent beta period with the best beta testers team every assembled. The Vanguard :SOH development team would have time to install and organize the feedback from beta testers The servers could be fully tested which would prevent daily crashes and all the adverse problems of lag. SOE would have enough time to properly market Vanguard :SOH which is the next generation in MMO's Everyone would be able to preorder game which would then arrive by the scheduled release date. |

Re: SGO replies
Ok, this is the last post I'm going to make on this topic, because it draws extraordinarily old. This horse has been beat into the ground multiple times.
"Front of the line" means exactly what it says. It doesn't mean now. It means there is a line, and you can go to the front of it. It doesn't imply, state, or otherwise make assertion as to when that line will be allowed access. It was neither intentionally nor unintentionally misleading. People have chosen to read it in ways that are most beneficial to them or allow them to cast us, Microsoft, SOE (although, not sure how that leap was made), or CGM in a negative light. We also had a small announcement that affected our ability to move into the next phase of Beta -- I understand how it could have been missed, but honestly folks, we've explained this situation ad nauseum. I understand and appreciate that people are excited, and we want to encourage that. But let's not fall victim to selective hearing/reading or worse yet, outright historical revisionism. Thanks. __________________ Zack "Ozuri" Karlsson Director, Business Development Very Nice Ozuri - great post |
