Thanks guys for the responses. I'm just getting really antsy about the game and really really wanting to play it (as many others are i'm sure). I didn't make it into beta, so i'm feeding off of what the forums are saying. Vanguard is gonna be so awesome!!!

By the way, the new release window is: Winter 2006. Officially, Winter starts mid-December. So we're looking at probably the latest possible 2006 date.

true but my betting is also on a long "Open" Beta. By open I mean very easy to get into. Perhaps from September.

I haven't really heard them say 2006 since the SoE instead they have been saying this winter. It is also important to note that they said that SoE needed a game for next year. As such I expect the game will make it's release in Q1 of 2007 which would be this winter in time for SoE to have a game for next year. Might be another historic mid March release.

I would bet that means a push to be on the shelves for Christmas. Since SOE will be participating in the publishing process, and this has long been an MO for them, I think that very likely. From an economic standpoint, it's hard to overlook to opportunities offered in a holiday release.

I am sure that if there is 50+ thousand beta players in game before christmas and the game is stable (as it must be prior to release) much of the pressure will be off. I would rather have a 6 month free beta than the usual 6 month paid Beta. Of course this is dependent upon me getting into beta in the first place!!

I would agree. Unless it's something crucial, it doesn't make alot of sense to delay from December to January - especially for a Teen rated game (it is still Teen, right?) that can be patched easily.

If it's not December (or November, which I've heard from various sources as well - but I don't get my hopes up), I'd bet that we don't see it until March. March is a game doldrums month, so AAA titles that do get released often sell quite well.

Hmmm a Nov / Dec release date would not be a bad idea on marketing standpoint, with Holidays and all and Christmas !!!!

Well they said "this winter" and if we are going by the Gregorian calendar winter doesn't start until December 21st so no I don't think we will be seeing it in November. More than likely it will be out in the first quarter of next year.
