Re: Naming your characters
Mine are constructively unoriginal.
My official character name is normally "Vigrid Ottar". Its old Norse for "Battlefield Fighter" or soldier. In WoW, my warriors name was Reidar. Its Norse for Warrior. My dwarf was Dverger, Norse for Dwarf. |

Re: Naming your characters
for me it's odd sometimes i use a name from an anime or video game character i llke such as the name i'm useing here or it might be one of those things that i have a weird brain fart like i did with my WoW druid since they danced like strippers i wanted a good stage name it was when i walked by a tv playing the movie shrek that i heard donkey saying everyone likes parfaits i ain't ever heard a man say i don't like no parfait and the name stuck other times i might take it from a historical person books other pen and paper rpg's i was in or heck i might make a list of name and roll a dice it all depends on my mood or how lazy i am :P

Re: Naming your characters
I got mine after hitting the name generator on EQ. It came up Nadwen. I though not to bad, but i can't have Nad in my name. Then I remembered that loots where done in Alpha order, sometimes, so Aadwen was born. Been it ever since, when it fits.

Re: Naming your characters
I really need to go re-read the Memmory, Sorrow, and Thorn series by tad williams, as Xanoth in essence is based from a minor character from that series. The right hand of prince joshua is called something along the lines of Danolath.
This was shortened to Danoth for a D&D character, liked the style, but wanted a different build. rolled up his brother to play instead, called him Xanoth. loved the character and the name, always been my main ever since. for my alts i usualy play with words and sounds and try to put something together that i like the sound of and fits with the style of the character and its roll. |

Re: Naming your characters
I came up with Iendan by modifying a random generated name from eqlive and liked it and have been using it on my main chars since but i am thinking of tossing it and coming up with a name that fits better into kojan (aka asian themed name)

Re: Naming your characters
While I am not a huge "role player" I Have to see the charachtor before giving him a name or at last have a good idea what he will look like in game. Sometimes I am lazy on my alts, and let the game pick.

Re: Naming your characters
Tad Williams is a pretty good author. I like his Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series myself and actually need to reread it and finish the series off. I stopped reading several years ago due to lack of time and Im starting to miss it.

Re: Naming your characters
I've always used the name Darianna from gaming to instant messengers.. It's been so long, i'm not sure where it originally came from, before it was my D&D name. My friend liked it so much she named her daughter that. Her daughter is 14 now. So thats shows how long i've been using it!
