Re: Naming your characters
I was a big fan of dragonlance books when I was growing up. When I played EQ I created a shaman Kiri-Jolith. I figured who the hell would rememeber that name from a book back then.
After that my Clan of Jolith just took off. It never became a problem in finding a name for all my characters cuz I was just insert jolith in all the names and they were never used. |

Re: Naming your characters
Miglok Skreefyre > That came from a play on Miggy...a nickname based on my own name, and Skreefyre I made up based on his being Half Elf and a Ranger...it sounded suitably foresty/wildlifey/fantasy.
Rayd Skaldensen > I have no idea where I came up with Rayd, but honestly I wasn't trying to be silly. However after one of my friends saw me taking on a small bug, screenshotted me and then added the caption "Rayd - Kills bugs dead!" I just had to keep it. As for the surname, it was suggested Rayd would go with a Swedish sounding surname, and Dwarves have a history of being named "[father's name]son" so I just picked a name out of midair that sounded 'right' to me and fiddled the spelling a little.

Re: Naming your characters
Morgore- EQ2 and DDO- Ranger, can't really remember when, why and where this name came about. Just been using it for the last couple years
Blayze Heavnfyre- UO, EQ2, DDO-female caster- whichever has fire... there wasa wild spell in UO that looked like fire from the sky... so I put it all into a name Morgore is a jack of all trades type of guy... usually in the back of the group picking off mobs that like to go after the pajama wearing casters or seeing how fast he bring down mobs before the tanks get to hit them. He's also not afraid to lead a group to battle, bow on his back, blades in his hands or even stand toe to toe with the tanks and swinging metal. Morgore is always eager to help a friend and even more eager to destroy an enemy (ok.. that got a little out of hand, but hey...it sounds good)

Re: Naming your characters
Heh, actually I'm currently deliberating over my Vanguard character's name
. I came up with the name Astraad about 6 years ago, when I was looking for name suitable for Star Wars games. I started with "Astra", meaning star, but I didn't want anything that obvious. I liked Astrid, but that is a real name, and I wanted something a bit different, so I went with Astraad. I still really like it and I always use it for my main character and as my board handle. I enjoy having a name that I feel belongs to me, and if someone called me it in IRL I might actually answer! The surname is trickier though. I had a half-elf ranger in Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II who was called Astraad Silverleaf. Very elven, but kind of restricted to that context. For Star Wars Galaxies, I used Astraad Bladerunner - similar to "Skywalker" and with Harrison Ford associations, LOL. But for Vanguard, I'm still stuck! I could use my fiance's character's surname, which is Giftmacher, but maybe my character needs her own name. Hmm. Maybe deciding a definite class and race will help, but I haven't even got that far yet! ![]() |

Re: Naming your characters
Zberyn was originally a name for my dark elven Cleric in EQ1. Ziasha was my original EQ1 character, and I just sorta liked the Z names for my elves. I carried the name into EQ2, but never got very far with the character, so she's just a wee little dark elven Zerk stuck in Qeynos and I don't even play the game any longer.
The name has kinda stuck now, so I'll probably use it in Vanguard, even if my character isn't a dark elf.

Re: Naming your characters
Have been using Pirotess as my gaming handle since '99. Comes from Record of Lodoss Wars anime series. Prior to that I used Xanlith which I just made up on my own.
