Re: Anticipation
Welcome, Taronn!
You're right; SWG was lacking a lot of quest content but, I have to say, I loved doing the Jabba missions!

Welcome Taronn I guess both clerics and Paladins should be equally effective against undead since they should be able to call for divine assistance. The paladin must, by Sigils own rules, be as good a tank as a warrior. I have never understood why tradition made the Clerics and Paladins healer classes. My local Vicar would not be able to apply a sticking plaster!! There should have been a class called Healer. What clerical classes should be good at is lifting curses and raising moral. |

Re: Anticipation
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to update this thread with the following: My anticipation factor has not decreased with the change to SOE (dont really want to get into that but thought i must start somewhere) and the E3 show. The flow of information has continued, and yes i MUST HAVE (lol) more information but i am content with the quantity and quality of information that i have gathered (here and at other sites). I am a sucker for a new D&D type game but this one seems to exceed even my expectatons. I stay away from the official forums for Vsoh for the reason i dont care to interact with people who seem to just want to rant at others for no other reason than they can. I applaud Sigil's move to control those boards and warn or ban those that refuse to follow the rules. This site is the most informative and friendly site i have found and I applaud those that work on this site's content. (lol) Just wanted to extend a few good words about that. I will mainly be a crafter then an adventurer with diplomacy in there somewhere. The information extended about crafting has just wetted my appetite for more. In EQ2 (current game) im on my third crafter with plans for a fourth. My adventuring char is just my fund gatherer it seems to me sometimes lol. I read somewhere that crafting will not require adventuring for funds - possibly for materials but not funds (not sure about materials) and that quests or tasks willl be extended to us for city improvement. HURRAY!!! WOOOT !!!! WOOOHOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!! That has my conditional approval lol depending on the enjoyment factor. I do enjoy the crafting process so i will probly like that a lot - hope so. Harvesting becoming a subset of skills actually seems like a good idea to me - when i heard of the concept of harvesting classes it seemed like a good idea for the board room but not practical in application. I mean where do u go with it?? I think that it may be possible to create a whole flowsheet for the harvesting classes but it just doesnt sound all that exciting or inspiring to me so Sigil has my approval for that move. Having seen the new movie i like the look of the monsters/creatures that will populate and scenery and provide our destructive enjoyment. I dont know if a turn-based combat system will be enjoyable or just a slow down of the flow of events that make up the combat experience. I am hoping that the system implied at and hinted at between words i have read is a fun and enjoyable system. There have been times when Sigil's people have explained the combat system but they are allways explaining to others and we are receiving the information in a third-party kind of way - so that is making me wonder about that. I dont know how i feel about the long beta and the way Sigil is handling not saying when the game will release. On one hand i want them to release the game immediately but on the other hand i want them to finish the game to their expectations of what the game should be. I honestly dont care when the game releases - i am enjoying EQ2 and can continue to play that with my guildmates there. I would just appreciate a honest and concise frame of reference to base my thought process on. Saying in the winter is not a very good way of indicating that they know when it will be released. How a beta can last so long is beyond me. Please keep in mind i have absolutely no idea what goes on during the beta process and why there are even several betas - i do know that i dont want to play a game during a beta when things can and do go wrong. I just want to know something and i cant even describe what i need to know even to myself. I mean i want them to say November 2006 but what if they are not done ? so ok, how about June 2007 ? lol this can go on forever!!! lol Ok, i just wanted to say that i am waiting patiently while bugging my Gamespot store for an updated release date - cause it doesnt matter what Sigil says - im not buying it from Sigil - im buying it from my friendly retail store. ![]() Last edited by Taronn Anvilmarr : 06-10-2006 at 09:34 AM. |

Re: Anticipation
I've been telling friends and ... uhm, more friends about Vanguard lately. Most of them - actually all of them, so far - are very positive about the game from what they've been told and what they have found out for themselves. We're all anticipating the release now. (Honestly, who could not?)
It's no wonder, really, this game looks like it'll be a major AND awesome real life time sink once it gets out, hehe. |
