Re: March Beta Newsletter legitimately leaked

Swords and hand wraps, aaaiiiyyyy! I'm floating on air after reading that tidbit about Disciplies. One of my favorite axes to grind (pun not intended) has been the annoying "blunt weapon" restriction of most non-shaman/druid-healer classes, and it never made sense to me they couldn't pick up a sword and poke things with the pointy end.

On a down note, I'm sad about the changes to the Shaman and Sorceror. This signals the begin of the development phase when we start to hear about features we like being dropped/changed. :/ It's unavoidable, but...those classes seemed so *cool* before.

Re: March Beta Newsletter legitimately leaked

Well currently, everyone on the OVF is busy finding things to complain about in this new wave of leaked information What does everyone find exciting about this stuff? Personally, it makes me feel like the game is less "nebulous" than it's seemed while every aspect of it was tucked under developer wings. It's neat to hear about things in "patch notes format" as a sort of reality check that yes this is still a MMO.

Edit: Foxeye! Didn't see you up there. Yeah, the swords and handwraps thing has me excited too, because that will probably leak over into Monk as well! It's interesting having a healer and dps fighter so closely related.

The screenshot was a neat tidbit too. Our first Kojani in a while.

Regarding the OVF...I have to admit I am looking forward more to the development of the smaller niches, so I won't miss it. My favorite message board experiences of all time are the server and class boards. I sometimes think half the reason I stayed a ranger is because the ranger community at Ranger's Glade was just THAT cool.

In fact...y'know...that's not a bad reason to pick a class. Not based on finding groups, or roleplaying, but based on which class has the coolest online community. *snort/chuckle*

Meh. I'm fine with the Disciple having a sword but I really think the Monk would lose a lot of defining features if they are given the ability to use swords (or most other weapons) as well.

Re: March Beta Newsletter legitimately leaked

"City Functions
We are reorganizing and repurposing cities to make navigating them and finding people and places intuitive and easy. When you enter the world we want there to be NO question as to where you are, who you need to speak with, and what your purpose is. Brennan's Stead is kind of our test village for this if you are interested in how we plan to approach this; and no, it isn't done yet. We are finalizing our designs for regional signs, signposts, and location markers. You should begin seeing these popping up in the next few weeks making all of our lives much easier."

This is the only policy that gives me a bit of concern. If restricted to starter towns I would have no problem at all. But to make locating NPCs and finding your way around easy does spoil my exploring fun a bit.

Re: Monkswords. Oh I agree. I'd personally always use fist weapons. I hope there are going to be claw/katar type weapons as well, since "fistwraps" seems to invite "no graphic image," and I likes me some graphic supremicy.

I always thought it was cool to see Monks use staves. It is a weapon that rarely has melee implications in most MMOs.

Re: March Beta Newsletter legitimately leaked

Overall, I like the changes minus those to the Sorcerer; the Shaman changes and spirit names are quite interesting. I agree with the city changes - I love to explore! The Disciple information has me considering becoming a disciple. I love how the class is being implemented.

Regarding the OVF, it has become quite unbearable and meaningless to be there as of late. I've spent most of my forum time on fansites.

Nope. Beta is closed with NDA. There may be an open beta close to release, but it hasn't been decided yet.
