Phony war?

When Britain declared war on Germany in 1939 nothing happened for several months this was called the phony war. Vanguards publicity "blitz" feel just like that to me at this time. A few short articles containing almost no new information and a few screenshots will hardly set the world on fire. Also what happend to that movie we were promised?

I log on to this and official sites 4 or 5 times a day in hopes, but nothing much happens the official boards just churn over the same old subjects. Not even a jazzing up of the FAQ and Web site other than a technical upgrade to reduce lag.

It may be its because I am most of my way through EQ2 free trail and bored, getting ready to cancel WoW through bordom. Too much time on my hands an no decent Beta to keep me busy.

But I really hope something happens soon.

Fair assessment Greymain. It has been quite awhile since any truly groundbreaking secret sauce has been spread and its really making life as an affiliate difficult! Unfortunately Im almost seeing a reverse marketing blitz instead. We've seen Brad start managing expectations lately and telling us about features that will be in the game but wont make release. Thats disappointing to me and saps some excitement.

As for that movie we saw one at Fanguard but to date Sigil has not released it that I've seen. Perhaps its coming soon.

I wish I had more information to reassure you with but I pretty much know what you know.

Sure, it gets disheartening at times. When you have over 55k people signed up on the OVF, all clamoring for information and not seeing a lot, the only thing you can really do is remember what it's taking for those folks at Sigil to get ready for the next step of beta and to continue working on one of the biggest games to hit yet! Let me give one of my famous "fer instance" thingys:

If I'm decorating a wedding cake for the President's daughter, and it has to be large enough to feed 1000 people, I'm sure as anything not going to want folks poking their heads in every 5 minutes to see what's new! You need to keep the concentration factor at the max and not worry about what others are thinking all the time. Yeah, I might make a goof or two along the way, but I'm going to go back and correct it, but maybe not until I'm done with the other stuff! And when I have something I want your opinion on, or want you to see (just to make sure I haven't eaten all 7 layers so far), I'll ask you to come in! Shoot...you have any idea how much it takes to make one of those things? (yes, I've done it irl!)

Same thing applies, and the only answer is still "Patience"! If there isn't that one element, we'll get another release like EQ2 that was still in beta, but they wanted to start getting the bucks and had told everyone it would be released to rival WoW. BIIIIIIG mistake! Then, 10 months later, what happened? They redid a lot of the game. bleh!

So, I'm going to sit here and scan and do what I can, and if there's nothing for a while, I'm going to go shed the 10 pounds I gained by sitting there and scanning mindlessly!

It's coming! We get frustrated that we can't tell you more, too, but once it hits, the frustration will come from too much work keeping up!

On your analogy no good baking a cake for a thousand unless you can gather the people to eat it! You only tell them when you are sure you can produce it. No good sending out a few vague invites then go back into hiding

I dont argue that point Aredhel but lately even the baseline things Sigil has gotten us accustomed to arent happening anymore. For example we're now halfway through March and havent seen a set of March screenshots on the official site yet.

Well, they technically have 19 days left to post the March screenshots.

EDIT: Their website is down at the moment, perhaps something is happening?

some of it might not be thier fault like they released x amount of info to different websites and such and only .5x has been published. That being said they really souldn't have used the word blitz to decribe what was going to take place....
As for the video I expect it to debut to the general public at e3, I hope I am wrong; however, they have had plenty of time to prove me wrong....

I think we may see something like a snowball rolling down hill, it starts with a couple new reviews, and just builds till we have the full scope of the new media coverage. Also come on, really do we want them to worry about the web site or the game? If they don't update the webpage that often because everyone is falling asleep at their comps to give us the biggest and best MMO to date, I say let em! I will put up with a little less info to get a little more game... Also it seems like their may be a gearing up to go to a bigger beta, maybe a semi public stage 3, which would take alot of time off the dev hands, and also maybe lead to a lightening of the NDA, and therefore plenty of info... Anyway thats my 2 cents, let them sit in their caves a little longer if that what they have to do to deliver.
