We havent found a trial for this game so we werent sure.....We read the min. and rec. specs but you know.....thats not always what it it will take to run the game well enough to play it enjoyably...I ran EQ2 on this well..what do you think? |

Re: Husband and I looking to maybe buy longtime EQ2 players
Well, right off the bat, I'd suggest upgrading to 2gb RAM!! It sure helps! Not sure about the other. You can always read the specs on the graphic cards they do support, and plow thru some of our past tech chatter, too!
A lot of ppl like it! It's kinda like a cross between old EQ and EQ2 with a smattering of other stuff. With the new patch, a lot of people are also finding some fun changes, and yes...some still gripe, but I think that's an MMORPG phenom! ![]()

The AGP card might be a problem but fixing that would require a new motherboard, video card, cpu and RAM most likely. In other words an entirely new machine. They may have optimized it enough so that a PCI-X card isnt as crucial as it was during launch though.

I'm kinda resurrecting this post, just in case you're still interested.
I'm using a rather old PC, an Athlon XP 2500+, with 1Gb PC3200 RAM, a GeForce 6600GT AGP card and an old SB Live. I did quit Vanguard a while back but after hearing of the updates and bug fixes, I thought I'd give it another try and it's not too bad! I still have the occasional CTD which I tracked down to my old soundcard but I found a work-around for that. My old system runs the game at around 53fps on the High Performance setting but I tweak it here and there to improve the looks. One thing I haven't done yet is visit a large city - my framerates will probably be hit hard - but I'm quite surprised at how well it runs now. Oh, for those that may be interested in the SB work-around - disable the sound in your vgclient.ini (in the Vanguard/bin folder). Do this by finding the line that starts UseSound=True and editing it to read UseSound=False. Save the file and start Vanguard. Once in the game proper (not Character Select) and once the game has settled for a few mins use the Settings to enable sound again. One thing - remember to disable the sound before you log out or exit or you'll need to edit the vgclient.ini file again. One last thing - make sure the sound device is set to Generic Software as this seems to be more stable. This system works for me. Hope this helps. Gotty |

Re: Husband and I looking to maybe buy longtime EQ2 players
<chuckles> When am I playing? Err....I guess that means I play when I'm not in SL or EQ2 or sleeping
![]() Times are kinda random though. I'm on Xeth with a few chars slowly edging into their teens. Look me up on Gotty, Benoen or Shissar. Have fun folks Last edited by Gotty : 05-29-2008 at 04:22 AM. Reason: Fix my usual typos :) |

Well....the Lady of the Keep is in EQ2 most of the time right now. Command from her counterpart, as her presence has been needed of late!
