The best class?

Hi all!

Now, when I ask what the best class is, I mean which class is the most fun to play? I know this will be different to each and every one of you but I'd like to know which class/race combo you think is 'the best' and your reasoning why.

I've been playing with a Halfling Druid (my first character and the one I've played in other games), a High Elf Pally (my second character, again played in other games) and a Kojani human sorceror (my third character and a class I've never played before!). Of the three I'm finding the sorceror to be the most fun so far, but perhaps this is because it is so new to me.

So, what are your favourites and why did you choose them?

I play a half-elf ranger. I like the ranger because I can solo when I'm feeling unsocialable, or hop into any group as its a versatile class. I like my baby dark elf necro just for evil sake.

The disciple was ALOT of fun in Beta and when I played mine to 11? in the first weeks.

Since then, I played mainly my Psi with a reg group only until recently and was fun, though not AS fun as Enchanter in EQ was to me - but definitely fun.

I'm partial to Varanjar due to the Nordic thing.

I liked playing my warrior and surprisingly the Cleric was great fun. Heck, so was the Shaman...seems I've enjoyed healers for the first time (barring Norse Healer in DAoC, which was the healer/enchanter of Midgard) in these games.

Necro is very interesting but hasn't 'gotten me' - prob cos I loved mine in EQ and I miss me ol' skelly.


If I had to pick on, it would be Shaman/Cleric or Psi

(HAVE NOT played: BM, Bard, Rogue (to lvl 6 or so beta only), Paladin, DK (to like lvl 8 only in Beta) so can't say the ones I picked are definitely (subjectively) better than those.


Gnomes as always are just 'wrong.'

I play a goblin disciple. Disciple is a fun class, very different from the traditional healers of old. And goblins are just cool

Gotty....one particular bard you know well is having a blast playing his disciple! He also has a cleric he's fond of and....something else, but can't remember. Gobbie Shammy, maybe?? Maybe we can coax him into posting.

I actually like my ranger and little rogue that I had (but she got deleted...bad me!). And, of course...there's druid!

Right now, I can't do squat til I get the video issue fixed!

Looks like folks tend to choose character classes that they've played before in other games. Perhaps that's because the classes seem familiar and they're comfortable with them? Those that have chosen something a bit different seem to have more fun, but maybe that's my interpretation!

One character class that I've never really taken to is the full-blown healer - most of my characters are the multi-role support characters: Druid, Shaman and to some extent Paladin. That might be because they have a more varied role (for example: EQ clerics seemed to run in a 'Med-Heal Fast-Med' cycle, slightly boring(!) to me) and that gave those classes a bit of an edge. Maybe now is the time to try something totally new to me, after all VSoH is a new game so it might prove a useful exercise to be different!

You know, of course, that Wolfeyes broke that stereo-typical cleric thing in EQ, right? And a certain druidess we both know was anything but "typical" with what she did, as well!

...better not go there, tho!

For me, I played a paladin in beta, but when it came to starting live, my friends and I decided we'd all start in the same place (Leth Nurae). Paladin was already taken before I found out (benefit of being de facto Guild Leader is picking your class first, I suppose. ) So, I took a look at the options and chose Ranger. And, I can't say I regret the decision at all, as I've had the most fun with her.
