Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
I have been looking forward to play a sorcerer and have been searching for information about this class. The fact that is classified as a damage dealer class attracts me but I read some opinions that after all is not so great class and does not bring too much to a group. Unfortunately I did not played beta
so I could not test it. Could some of you give me your ideas and judgments about this class? Thank you all ![]() |

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
I haven't played a sorcerer for any long period of time. However, I do know that it depends on your definition of what someone is supposed to bring to a group.
The sorcerer may not bring any sort of buffs to a group, however they bring massive damage, which is an asset in my book. Just be careful that you leave enough of the opponent's corpse behind to loot.

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
I can kill things faster as a blood mage than as a sorceror. Plus I can heal myself and mostly survive taking on 3 mobs at once (not usually by choice).
However this is at levels < 10. Can't speak beyond that to be honest. I'm going to try out a ranger tonight. |

I made a socr and got to level 2 all i have read so far is the socr is a great class he can do damage and counter spells for the group, while downloading last night in the patch notes they fixed the damage on him made it higher and it is to get better as you level, you also have a spell that can even out mana in the group so it is incereased haven't got to try it yet though

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
It seems, according to the information posted on sorcerers at the vanguard official site, as well as the opinions of those playing the class, that Sorcerer is not fully fleshed out as of yet. I am assuming they have plans to buff the class before release. It is supposed to be a class that not only adds quite a bit of damage, but helps to mitigate spell damage thrown at the group, likely this will mean more debuffs in the way of spellcasters at later levels, although its all conjecture at this point.

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
Yeah, from what I've read Sorcerer dmg is low right now (but being fixed - or fixed already with patch). They do seem to be geared more toward damage/grp assist. They are suppose to do some crazy stuff with counterspells I think. I've not played one though so I hope thats how it works out.

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
Don't give up on sorcerers just yet. It is going to be a very solid class, if not right at release, then shortly thereafter. I made a new sorc about 6 days before beta 5 ended, and at lvl 4, it took me about 6 seconds to kill the average mob. Soloing is incredibly easy after lvl 8. I ran several group quests solo, by just using invis to run right by everything that looked like it wanted to hit something squishy (me). As for damage, what I remember being most remarkable is that back when I was at lvl 8, I critted for over 600. My blood mage never quite managed that... At lvl 10 I could take out 5 mobs at once, only requirement being I survived for 8 seconds. The counter feature is most noticable with sorcs, and will give sorcs more utility in groups than we mage types are accustomed to. Last patch our mana pool was increased greatly, DOTs were recently upped in damage, and more is planned for the future from what I hear. I'd say if you feel like you want to play a sorcerer, go for it.
