Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
A few posts back someone asked if the sorc has a spell to cool off some of the aggro their high damage output is going to generate. They do. The spell is called forget. It has three levels, but even at the lowest level it should be sufficient to get the mobs to go back to beating on the big guy with the sword that I will spend most of my time hiding behind.

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
I played a few classes, and honestly, I really like the sorcerer the best. I played it solo and in groups quite a bit, and it seemed to work well either way. I was happy with the Damage for the most part, and that very nice AE they get has come in handy more than once. I just need to remember to not be next to an npc when I touch it off... :/
Bloodmage was a close second though... I enjoyed that a lot as well. |

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
The only problem is that if I did so much damage as a sorcerer then surely I would attract more aggro? So basically we sorcerers would have to watch out for that. That's where some of the skill comes in imo... doing as much damage as you can but without drawing aggro.

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
I played 2 sorcerer's to 15, Cleric to 14 and a warrior to 13 during closed and open beta, out of those 3 classes I had the most fun with the Sorcerer.
As some people have pointed out the Sorcerer class is still inline for some tweaking, there was almost none for this class over the past couple of weeks where as other classes, for example blood mage's, were getting a lot of attention so I am anticipating good things for the Sorcerers moving forward. Sorcerers damage has improved quite a bit with a couple of the more recent patches, Char II hits and ticks a lot higher now and I was often chain critting for 900 at level 14. I played an end game mage in wow and the sorcerer class has a somewhat similar feel. If you are unsure as to the class you would like to play I would recommend trying out some different caster types to at least level 10, getting to level 10 is easy enough and you can solo it too if need be. I think that once you have played various classes to 10 you should have a pretty good feel for what class type you are having the most fun with and go with that. Macro Tip: I use a couple of macros, specifically for chains and counterspells. Both macros included a call to /cancelability this allows for immediate chains and or counterspells to be used even if you are in the middle of an existing spell cast, it worked great. Counterspell Macro /cancelability /reactionautocounter /g Counterspelling <item=00000:0,0,0,>%to
The last line in the macro above /g Counterspelling <item=00000:0,0,0,>%to
will output the name of your offensive target to your group, by wrapping the %to variable with the
tag the targets name will be highlighted in colour. Chain Macro /cancelability /reactionautochain Here is a link to my Sorcerers UI, you can see that I bind keys A and D to my reaction macros, I use QWES to move so these macro keys are close at hand. http://www.seidr.net/images/vg.JPG Last edited by Vamprin : 01-26-2007 at 11:09 AM. |

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
I am liking a lot this thread. I think people are really taking an effort and giving a lot of their experiences and tips. I really can't wait to get the game and start playing with the sorc. Thanks a lot to all of you (and those to come). I hope this continues to be a nice venue for discussion.

It is very easy to create a macro ![]() Right click on an empty button on your action bar, this will pop up the macro editor, you can then input the macro text I mentioned earlier into the editor and then click create. Once the macro is created you can then bind a key to it from the key binding options dialog. While in battle if either the chain lights up or the counter spelling lights up you can immediately click the corresponding key and the macro will automatically stop whatever it is you are casting and use the applicable reaction. The only thing to watch is that the chain or counter spell is not on its cooldown otherwise it will not actually do anything, this is easy to see and once you have played around with it for a while it becomes second nature to use and lots of fun. |

Re: Sorcerer: a worthwhile class?
Question about the cancel, I have seen problems where I would just bind cancel to 'B' I then hit B and CS or reaction and the reaction doesn't go off?
Does this /cancelability macro work all the time even when you are currently casting or is it based on other conditions? thanks, I will sure give it a try tonight anyways |
