Well, looking at Qalia I went and got a copy of 1001 Arabian Nights - the profanity in those stories is hysterical and inventive, "Offspring of a hopping toad! Son of a dung fly's maggot!" and such. I'll be using them in place of swearing, along with feline aggression behaviour - the baring of fangs, flattening of ears, hissing, growling, tail thrashing et al Cat's have wonderful bodies for displaying emotion.

Some racial slurs are innevitable, as long as they are in character and not actually profanity, like "inky" for dark elves or "snacklings" for halflings. There are plenty of things you can do without resorting to real life profanity or direct insults.

Remember, call me "kitty" and die

John Ringo writes a series of books about alien invasion and powered armor. Between him and the Mecha genre, there is a nickname for ground combat units.....crunchies. I love that.

Quote:
BTW, crunchies are what mechanized and armor call infantry, because they crunch under the wheels of tanks
Of course I've always referred to my fellow dwarves as Kneebiters...

Pauncy lil Git
Saucy Tart
Toilet Hound

or my favorite Horde quote for dwarves...

Dwarf, the only naturally alcoholic meat
