Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2
The only way i've ever seen rangers done right was dead on the floor. Don't think that'll be too hard for Sigil to do

I think what they're referring to is Brad's ranger love and they expect that to spill over, making them overpowered for something. It didn't happen in EQ (though, I still enjoy using a well-timed "Ranger down!" to get a laugh), so I'm not sure it will here.

Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2
I have a feeling that there may be some aspects of the Hunter class from WoW mixed with a lot of the EQ1 Ranger. The superior scouting ability, maybe faster movement modes, superior ranged attack but comparable melee damage. Maybe even a stealth level on par with half of that of a rogues, without the ability to sneak attack or what not.
They are definately up there on my list of possible main classes. |

Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2
I played an EQ ranger through Velious and can say they were overpowered relative to other melees early on. There as a short time where a well equipped ranger was arguably the best tank in the higher level game. (When Rubicite was the best armor around, etc simply being able to make sure your runners were snared was worth a lot) Though there was the whole hybrid exp penalty to go along with that for a bit to. They did a lot to change that balance problem as the high end content got developed though, and reversed it quite handily with Kunark turning Rangers into some wierd almost DPS almost Tanking hybrid. (I understand it changed quite a bit with further expansions but I was off in DAOC land by then)
