Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2

in the early levels.. 10 or 12 I believe, Rangers get to tame a creature for up to 75 seconds. I haven't really looked yet to see if that gets longer. I never really use it in battle..maybe for fun. I know its nothing like the hunter in WoW. Which was really cool.
I think the two rangers are somewhat similar. I played a ranger in EQ2 and kept myself back enough to do 90% of my damge thru archery. Of course that was after playing 50+ levels and in a group. Now in Van.. it seems like you get a lot more melee dps (it seems) then rangers did in EQ2. Granted I'm only lvl 13 atm and haven't played EQ2 for over a year... so it may have changed.

to answer the OP.. they are quite similar, but it does depend on how you play your ranger. If you liked EQ2 rangers, you will like Vanguard's Rangers.

Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2

The EQ2 and the VG Ranger are not the similar to be honest. The VG Ranger is like the "EQ Ranger 2.0" in all honesty, which for the most part the community enjoys.

Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2

I like my ranger in EQ2 but was mad when they started nuffering it so i deleted it, I am not sure on VG just what i read on other forms and stuff but he does sound cool, one of the guys who did the game said something that you could go a number ways with a ranger, up close and dirty or ranged i think he said that they can use a bow right away also, sry not in the game yet so don't know if that is right or not

They are definately up there on my list of possible main classes.
You mention scouting ability. Do you mean in a sense of stealth and movement speed, or is there actually a tracking feature?

Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2

I sincerely hope rangers end up being like EQ1 amazingly high damage with amazingly low chance of surviving a fight; if for no other reason than that Ranja jokes are just plain fun. I mean come on, they really are.

Re: Ranger VG vs. Ranger EQ2

I loved my EQ ranger (at least through level 50) but not the EQ2 ranger. From what I have seen, I will love the VG ranger.

I don't want to be an archer; I want to be a woodsman/explorer with steel flashing. I don't mind opening shots, but I like in-your-face melee.
