Hello future Tank compainions
I am looking forward to Vanguard soh, the new community I am getting to know within its affiliate fan sites.
Seeing this forum brings a smile to my face. I hope to be part of a growing thing here and I hope any contribution I add to discussions can be of help to other tanks. |

Hi Tudana!
I did not play an EQ warrior... I did not play EQ... I personally think I am NOT at a disadvantage coming into Vanguard as a future tank. What do you guys think? I think that with the insurgence of the many old-school tanks coming to vanguard, everyone should be careful to wipe their slate clean of expectations from one game to another. I played a warrior in WoW (yes, an actual tank and not just a rogue wearing plate) I played a tank in Asheron's Call (not many have even heard of the game) I personally think old-school and new-school tanks will be stunned by the differences in tanking Sigil is introducing. It's fun seeing what others think, and there aren't many people exchangin ideas here yet, so let's conversationalize, shall we? ![]() -Eclipse

I don't think you'll be at any sort of disadvantage not having played EQ. This combat system is sooooo far removed from what EQ1 offered that I doubt anything in the way of knowledge/tactics will transfer over.
And I think that's a good thing! More than any specific gameplay experience, I think the most important quality of a good tank will be siituational awareness. In a lot of other games any additional mobs were someone else's responsibility... it looks like in Vanguard the tank is really going to need to be on top of things in order to keep himself in the correct position to defend his companions, absorb damage intended for them, and disrupt enemy attacks. |

Hi there all. Thought i'd drop a line to say howdy. and unless anyone says otherwise i claim the position as the first confirmed Dread Knight. (being as noone but me has posted in their forum) Lil history on myself. I have been playin EQ1 for a lil over 2 and a half years now. My main is a level 70 Wizard, and my alt is a Level 70 DWARF Paladin. Played on Lanys T'Vyl, The Seventh Hammer (/wave Fisty), and now Oriflame (wizzy) and Bezy (pally) are both residing on Antonius Bayle. After watching the degredation of the wizard class for so long, seeing so many broken things just gpushed aside...I started playing a Paladin and fell in love with it. Of course my guild would never allow me to change mains due to the extreme difference in gear between my pally and wizzy, but its still fun to take him out and tank for my groups. I debated myself back and forth for hours about playing a Pally or a Dread Knight in VG. Finally my love for the Dark Elves won out, and Sigil permitting, Fadeyn the Dark Elf Dread Knight will soon reside in the world of Telon |

Hmm.. you must not have been on 7th very long after the merge cause I don't recognize your name. I'm social butterfly so I at least know the name of most of the 65+ people on the server (and quite a few below 65 that I have a tendancy to blow all my money on buying gifts for, lol)
My main has always been a rogue and will probably continue to be in Vangard but we'll see. = ) My favorite alts are my human pally and my erudite sk |
