I appreciate the site. I can come here to find "real" information from the patches without trying to read 4 pages of patch notes and having my eyes glaze over. I still read all of the DK, Warrior, Cleric, Disciple, and Rogue notes, but it is nice to see other's takes on them, and to get an insight from some of the "regulars" here who seems to have a better handle on the mechanics than I do, and can explain the impact better.
I like being able to ask others for class advice, and give what advice I can from my experiences in return. The only other fansite I watch at all is Silky Venom, but finding anything useful there is an effort in futility. Mostly I just go there for the entertainment value. ;} I like that we have people on this site who know what they are talking about and are willing to research and fight for issues. Even if some of the info we get / give is wrong, I think there are enough people here watching what is important that mistakes get corrected or at least looked into. So, the long and short of it is, no I don't agree with the quote, and I appreciate the effort you put into the site. Do we all wish there were official forums? Probably, I certainly do. But I like having a community site that cares about and caters to what is my favorite MMO archtype. The tank. ;} There are always those who choose to be angry about things, and for some reason rather than just going away feel the need to share with the world, but I don't think they are the majority. My 2cp.

I don't share the quoted sentiment either. I come to this site several times a day to check on updates and pick up tips from the higher level folks here. There is a very civil community here that usually ends up getting lost on official forums.
I spent a lot of time on official boards for both EQ and EQ2. I don't feel it was any better than what you have going now. The response time from devs and such on player issues was about the same in my experience. I say keep up the fine work. Laneil Feard 22 DE Dread Knight - Woefeather |

I like this site and use it mainly to get tips and discussion with other warriors. I'd prefer a class specific site personally, but it's about exchanging idea's with other tanks for me, if devs also use the information from this site, then that's just an added benefit imo.

I never see these types of boards as a place to discuss issues with devs. It more about discussing methods with other players. Fun places to hunt, tips on gear (ac vs hp or whatever), methods of keeping agro, hotkey chains and such. And if a group of players have an issue with either something being bugged or broken then I expect the class leads or whoever to foward that information to whoever needs to know it. If every player brought everything that annoyed them to the devs attention then they wouldnt have time to fix anything, just read messages.

i think that is just a general poster aggravated with lack of official forums, some people like to b***h, and they like to make others feel bad for their own aggravations.
i am liking the site a lot, and thank you for hosting and working on it lightning. keep up the good work! |

Ignore that idiot. Although I'm kind of annoyed myself at Sigil/Sony not having official forums other than tech support forums. The community needs community website such as this. As long as people don't just get ignored or randomly banned because "You don't like them" (With the exception of Theodor the Monkey)
Keep it up, it's a good resource. |

I am still waiting for my protective fighter of choice to launch and I frequent this site to see what my favorite battle-brothers are up to (I am a healer first but not only, and I like knowing how the meatshields are doing). I do not believe the sole purpose of sites such this is to forward known issues along to Sigil. While it is certainly a beneficial feature, the primary intent of the fansites should be to provide a place for players to discuss issues regarding their specific needs. Vanguard fighters does that well in my opinion.

I see this site as a gathering place of info and tips, a round table so to speak. If the devs come and comment, nice. If not, it's not gonna affect what I post here. I post here because this is where those dedicated to the tank classes come, not because the devs come here and I'm hoping to draw their attention. Keep up the good work.

Keep it up!
These boards are for more than just bitching at the devs. As those before me have pretty much stated, they're a place where tanks can come and share info and experiences. Vanguard is still in it's infancy, we really don't know all there is to know about the workings of the game from a tanking perspective, and if this site were to close, we'd have nowhere to go.
Having survived the suck-fest of Wow and the official Blizzard Boards, I think we see a helluva lot less trolls and general infantile ass-hatedness here. Would it be nice if the Devs visited/posted a little more, sure, but all in all any place where tanks can get together and talk without animosity (I'm talkin' to you you wimpy Paladins!) (jk) that's a good site. Also any site where tanks can come and discuss tank issues without the random 13 year old mage posting "use guyz suxxor" /shrug I think that's a good thing too. C |
