Anyone in the Beta?
If so, I have a question..what is your take thus far on system specs?
I am currently running the following... Windows XP Professional Version (Service Pack 2) AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 2.09 GHz. 1.25 GB of RAM GForce 4 TI 4800 Graphics Card 128MB Not sure fo the Motherboard model exactly, other than it's an ASUS....older, because it doesn't have PCI or Firewire capability (About 2 years old, ancient in computer terms) DSL connection This system ran EQ, City of Villians, EVE-Online (2 accounts simultaneously), and WoW (also 2 accounts simultaneously) just fine, but feel it's gimped for Vanguard. Was hoping this would do, but figuring this isn't the case and I will have to spend money I don't have to upgrade lol. Thinking an ASUS 8N-SLI Premium Motherboard, and atleast a GForce 6800 256MB card. Any suggestions? |

In response to Nino's question
Not sure why it was locked, but I can answer your question without violating the NDA. (dont ask people if they are in beta, at least not in public!)
Your system will have issues yes. The changes you suggested sound along the right lines, but instead of a 6800, wait until closer to VG release, and buy a 7800 or 7900 (possibly two), as these will have reduced in price quite a bit by then. 2GB RAM would be a minimum in my book, RAM is so cheap nowadays anyway. Whatever you decide to do, dont do it now, unless you want to play Oblivion (huge video RAM hog). Start saving now and maybe you can afford one of the big boy video cards by then ![]() |

I wasn't trying to encourage anyone to say they were. I was not aware that it was against their rules to say so. I am new to this site and the Vanguard official site as well. So i wasn't done intentionally. Sorry about that.
I'll read it more thoroughly. :? |

There's no way you could have known, they only tell the rules of the NDA to people who are in beta
![]() Nah, the basic rules are posted somewhere on the OVF, but basically they went with the all or nothing attitude, so if you're in beta, you aren't allowed to discuss anything at all, to include the simple fact that you are in it. Reality shows that this isn't going to happen, but at least it can be kept to a minimum, and stomped out once it starts. Don't expect beta discussion, of any sort, on any of the affiliate sites, or any other fan sites that want to stay on Sigil's good side ![]() |

Man, it's been a long time since I've upgraded anything in my computer lol. 2 Gigs of RAM?!? Sheesh, and I thought 1.25 was good  .
Unfortunately, I'm not Mr. Moneybags, so I don't have the luxury of getting 2 7800 or 7900's. We'll see how they are price wise. Honestly, I haven't looked in so long, didn't even know that the 7800 or 7900's were out lol. Should of known though considering the fast turn over rate of any PC hardware ops: .Guess I'll have to wait and see, although it's VERY difficult to wait. I have that kid entering a candy store feeling when I think of shopping for PC upgrades at a computer show . |

![]() As for upgrading for Vanguard - if Vanguard is the only game you want to upgrade for do not do it now. Vanguard is a long way off (there's Beta 3 and 4 to go yet) and with the onset of Vista in 2006 Q4 / 2007 Q1 the graphics card market is going to move very quickly. This coupled to the soon to be available next generation of AMD processors means you'll be kicking yourself for not waiting ![]() If there are other games you wish to upgrade for in the meantime, consider your budget. |

Nowhere in the Code of Conduct does it say not to ask if people are in beta, but like you said, his post was innocent enough. |
