Simulacrum and chance of breaking
Lets state the obvious first: This skill roxxorz (translation: it's quite nice). It creates a temporary tank that looks like the mob you're fighting, and even though it states that it can break/disappear every time the mob hits it it holds up quite nice, in fact you can usually dot a mob to death before it breaks, and if you throw some direct damage into the equation you should be able to kill a 3 dotted mob before it can reach you.
there is an (afaik) undocumented and somewhat unwanted feature is that if you get in melee range of the mob then chance of breaking is much, much higher. When in melee range it's the rule rather than the exception that it breaks. Is this intentional or should I /bug it? |

Re: Simulacrum and chance of breaking
I'll have to test it out a bit when i get home from work. I havent noticed it breaking faster or more often when i'm in melee range, but, I'm really not usualy in melee range. When i get surprise pops / adds if i dont want to mez, i'll usualy DoT 'em with time.. time... erm that one that has 60% slow, run a few meters off then use simulacrum. works great for me
![]() On a kinda related note, i've realized i dont really need to use simalucrum too much even when soloing. Hit 'em with the slowing dot, and just run in a big circle while your dots tick away. |

Re: Simulacrum and chance of breaking
I also noted that casting simulacrum after it has broken once is useless as it instantly breaks again, but as tracerjpn2k states you can always kite the mobs.
However I prefer letting the simulacrum take all of the punishment, it's not so hard on the legs ![]() |

Re: Simulacrum and chance of breaking
Yea psionicist has some very nice spells, the simulacrum and the 60% slow down dot with damage is pretty nice using while you solo.

Re: Simulacrum and chance of breaking
I can get my 2 dots off... wait... cast some DDs and can kill even con 3 dots before they get to me at 9 I tried a 10 3-dot and just ran out of power. Once it breaks though you can't get agro with another one on the same mob so it boils down to kiting. We can solo pretty good and Acceleration gets us out of those tricky spots.

Re: Simulacrum and chance of breaking
Actually, you can use the simulacrum repeatedly, but only if it can gain agro in one round.
It is based on the hatelist of the target. In order for the simulacrum to exist, it must be on the top of the mobs hate list. The reason you see it vanish when you cast it again, is because the mob hates you (or someone else) quite abit. You can verify this by casting the simulacrum on a mob, and just standing there, not doing anything at all. Recast the illusion, and the mob may briefly look at you, but it'll turn to face the simulacrum again. The Simulacrum can be used in several ways, but it does require an understanding of agro, and the ability to manipulate it with finese.

Re: Simulacrum and chance of breaking
So far, I've found that Simulacrum will hold for a very long time if the mob isn't taking damage.
Once I start nuking, it breaks the illusion very quickly. I've actually tried to mind wipe my target to make the illusion last longer, because I think it has a lot to do with hate, and one time it actually worked. However, it only prolonged my clones distraction for only 1 second, and then the mob broke it for good. I use it a lot for crowd control, when we pull too many. For soloing I typically DOT and kite my way to victory. ![]() |
