Ignorant Anti-Gamers

You know what gets on my nerves? I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this, but people who refuse to advance with technological advances really get me irked.

We'll use video or pc games as our example. Games are taking graphics to the next level at a very fast rate. We see them as unbelievable escapes from reality where we can do and be what we want. This form of entertainment is openly available to anyone who can afford it.

However, I seem to be stuck having to defend my love for games against those people who refuse to even pick up a controller, yet insist on sticking their noses in the middle of my entertainment. What right do they have to tell me that what I do is bad or debilitating? Especially if they haven't even TRIED what they are discriminating against.

These people tend to get a response out of me that sums up to be, "stfu."

I don't know anyone like that but it annoys me just thinking that. Pretty much everyone at school plays some form of video games.

I used to be a platform only gamer. But then one day I wanted more, and I needed a PC. So I went out and bought a nice new shiny computer and booted it up. From there I played an online game. And ever since then, my console has been gathering dust. I just enjoy the heck out of my PC gaming that console gaming cannot touch.

But I remember the days when someone mentioned a PC game and I just thought " doesn't sound fun to me. " Boy was I wrong, lol. Then again, as I've matured with age, I appreciate games with meat and potato's more than just sweetness and gimicks.

As you said, "A break from reality" Where instead of, for instance, being a college student and doing homework then maybe workin a job. You can come home and be a CIA operative, you can be a Paladian online, where what you do actually affects other REAL peoples lives. Games arent just something for the "nerd" or what ever we are callin them. They are for people who enjoy using their imagination, and are not afraid to persue it. I mean, I love playing halo, and just for an hour or so think that i am a SPARTAN and i need to protect Earth, because my family is there. Let the anti-gamers be haters. We appreciate the work that goes into these games, the physicis, the math, the time. ITs not our fault, that plain and simple, reality sucks sometimes, and Telon would be a hell of a better place to spend time...

I started gaming for real back when Iwas like, 8 years old when my folks made the mistake of getting a nintendo for me and my bro on chistmas. Since then I've only become more rabid in my never ending quest for gaming blizz.

What really chaps me though, is the so called "parents" out there. Sure there are polotitians out there being a bunch of vote grabbing idiots, so they lash out at this convinent target, but the *only* reason they do it is because of this hack job parents.

/rant on

These unfortunate mishaps of human nature, in my eyes are worse than the most retarded immature "n00b" you've ever seen or heard about. These malcontents aren't simply content with ruining thier own kids life by simply ignoring them and what the kid is doing. Once they finally bother to look a the spawn of thier loins and realize that the kid is playing some bloody "shoot everything that moves" game, they feel like they have to attempt to destroy everyone elses fun as well.

I could go on, but I'll save the rest of a blog sometime.

I just get tired of everyone blaming the violence and such on Video Games... I learn a whole lot more from playing games... yes.. Learn actually usable real life knowledge, and no its not all about how to kill people.

This has always been the case:

First it was literature (oooh Lady Chatterley's Lover! BAN THIS FILTH!), ironically now considered a classic and probably would be studied at school.

Then it was television (it rots your brain!)

Then music (oh my god he said a naughty word!)

Then home video and films (oh my god, blood!)

Interactive entertainment, given that it only recently took off (i.e around 15 years ago) is merely going through what every other form of media has. In 10 years time some other passtime will become popular and people like Jack Thompson will move on.
