Option 1 sounds like it would be the best bet. Make it a non-deleteable quest you recive at creation.
As you level and fight creatures, the game keeps track and randomly peices together a sword that is unique to your play style, and creature choice as oponents. When you reach 50(last level ?) your sent to a holy place, and then given the tradeskill quest to craft the weapon. You have to get components from all crafters. A high level metal blade, wooden handle, jeweled pommel, leather wrappings, and scabard, and any other crafter class you can think of to throw in things. Once it's all brought together you either hand the items over to an npc, or do a nofail combine to recive a customized sword totally unique to you. If you used mostly 2hs, thats what you get, if you used 1hs there you go. It can also be any weapon you have used as a primary damage dealer, whatever weapon you used the highest % of time, thats the holy weapon. Sound like fun to you ? |

I just dont like the idea of 'specializing' where your actions at one point make any significant effect on your end game, considering that it just leaves open the opportunity for 'gimping' your character. |

I would prefer not to have a holy sword if it meant I was limited from using other weapons with all the class only codeing and or the guild loot reward variance of Pally's dont get weapon A because they get their Class sword of craptasticness ( Which in some games holy paladin sowrds really are ).

I've avoided Paladins until I started playing WoW, I enjoyed playing there but it took forever to killa mob compared to my hunter.
I like the idea of having a "class specific" weapon for each major level (i.e starting at level 15 you can quest to get a weapon that truely benefits your level, than at level 25-30 you get another quest, you just have to keep the origional weapon to turn in for the upgrade....in fact I think with Kunarks release they did this with the shamans 1hb). To me the point is being as unique as you can with cookie-cutter templates. Provide options on animation, stats and/or buffs (i.e Toon A and Toon B have the same mace but toon A has a plus to AGI whereas Toon B has a moderate buff to health)..... ......and Hi, I am Jojo. New to these forums but not to Vanguard, I figured I'd start an account here seeing as how Vanguard will be dropping their boards. |
