Firstly hello to everyone
Im the new guy on this forum hehe (not new to VG just new here).I'd like to add my thoughts on Avoidance vs Mitigation, or at least how i see it. You can have Warriors as the best avoidance while the paladins as best mitigation and balance it easy if you do the following. Lets say the base tanking stats are 10% parry, dodge, block adn 50% dmg mitigation. A paladin being the mitigation tank may have 5% parry and dodge, 20% block and 50% mitigation. The warrior on the other hand might have 15% parry, 15% dodge, 0% block and 30% mitigation. The only tricky part here is how do you balance dmg absobtion with the parry dodge. The parry + dodge vs block is easy to balance. If Block is 30% then the total of dodge and parry should be 30% aswell. The hard part is finding out the balance forumal between partial hits vs full hits. So if Warrior COMPLETLY avoids 30% of the dmg how much dmg should block and partial absorption (due to armor) to even it out? Its really quite interesting to balance the most offensive tank to tank with duel wielding while the most diffensive to use sword and board and get overall the same results ![]() |

Alot of Good Points being made About Main Tanks and MIT vrs Damage.
ONE Major thing i do know. Mages NEVER have Tanked well....EVER lol, Trust me I tried many times to make one be able to Tank heheh Just for FUN. I did See Some Clerics that could take Alot of Damage,Buffs and all. Ive seen the Enchanters Do the Same But With their Pets, and have to say ive seen 2 pets tank ALOT better than one Warrior of same Stats/level. But thats all old news im sure, weve all seen some Wild Things before. now on to what i Hope and think will Happen. NOT all Clases will be able to TANK. I think you meant Races. MT will ALways be Needed,And anyone who wears Heavy armor will be able to do it to some Extent. Robe wearers Will not be able to tank lol. Now MONKS on the Otherhand is Alot Diffrent we`ll jsut see about them. |

now that the game is out and its not just theorycraft anymore, here is my take on this.
I cant see why paladins would NOT be considered the prime main raid tank, simply because the virtue buffs they can do in limited amounts. Zeal stacked with paragon = Paladin with allmost 300% DPS putput and is allmsot garantueed to hit on every strike even against a vastly higher leve lopponent, due to the massive buffs to accuracy. Now... actually DKs will be able to get higher (indirect) mitigation because they can debuff the enemys dmg output by 10% at DC5 (as well as get +15% block) but as it was said in this thread its not so much about how much damamge, as long as its not spikes, and a paladin with these vitue buffs on will make so much aggro that healersand nukers can easily go all out without ever worrying about taking aggro. Even if the paladin was going 1h/shield I would find it hard to believe that anyone could take aggro from him in this state. -Stigma |
