I'm going to be a Mordebi, I like the Arabian Nights theme and just the overall look of Khal and Mordebi humans.

I've already got my dwarven paladin "Durinor Sureshield" created on Test Server 2. I decided to recreate my old EQ1 dwarven warrior and have this be the extension of his adventuring career after he got bored in Norath. All the war and bloodshed he saw over the years has made him become more pious.

Thought I'd sign up finally, make this place my home in VG.

I've been playing a Qalathari Human for several months now (of which variety I can't recall, it's patch time at the moment) I like this character a lot, as Garis mentioned the Arabian nights feel of Qalia and the promise of being a little more unique then most Pally's is real tempting.

Alas, several reasons will drag me back to a Thestran Human in the end....

1) My friends are most likely starting in Tursh as Thestran Humans.
2) Tursh is one of the finer starting areas, albeit laggy and in need of optimisation (which I hope they can achieve by launch).
2) Thestran lore is riddled ith the Undead, in Vanguard Paladins shine when dealing with the undead, this becomes evident when you have attacks for anything and a hotbar full of attacks for dealing with the vile wretched undead.

Each continent has it's own affliction (so to speak), Thestra the Undead, Qalia I can't currently recall and Kojan has demons.

So I find myself drawn to a Thestran Human Pally.

High Elven Paladin

Don't want to have to try to find Plate Pieces that raise Wis and Int =)

Plus they have a neat racial if used in the right situation.

Hi all im new to the boards, just signed up the other day after stumbling apon this wonderful source of info that I had much need of.

Ill be starting mostly likely as a Thestran Human, I like the Human stat set up much more, ya im more average then a dworf or a elf but I have alot more freedom to choose and as of yet im still very confused on the whole stat build issue.

Also pickign Thestra becuase my guild and I all choice that area of the world to start in.

High elf paladin.

I like Leth Nuare and I find the racial attributes to be handy. Means I can just focus my stuff into str-con-dex-vit instead of worrying about raising wis as well.

And yes, that racial ability really can save the day when a healer is out of energy. Who cares if the paladin, dk, offensive fighters and mages suddenly has less energy? If the healer dies, it's usually a 50/50 wether the group wipes or lives, and most likely one or two more after the healer will bite the dust before the fight is settled.

I just made a new Raki paladin. Regardless of what the "best" option is, If available i'll always pick the little guys. I just wish you could make gnome or halfling paladins.

Thestran

Thestrans are the best choice. Anything but an elf. I like playing dwarves, but months after release, I have a dwarven cleric and a dwarven pally and I wish I was a thestran on both counts. Only good thing about Dwarves are:

1. Racial +2% bonus to evasion

2. Racial ability: 25% rune to damage.

Suffice to say, my dwarven Cleric is pretty durable, but I'd rather have 5 vit and 4 Con than the other way around. My Dwarven Pally is decent, but I'd rather have 5 Dex/5 Str than 5 Con.

If you make a Pally, bear in mind, you won't be big-time healers at all... in fact, you'll have a very hard time healing. Pallys are actually the best tanks in VG. I'm glad to see so many people wanting to be Thestran because they are really the best choice, IMO.

And, Int is for spell damage. So, whoever it was that mentioned Int and wanting to be a High-elf earlier... it has little-to-no bearing on the paladin class. You'd be better off going for martial stats.
