Damage vs Agrro Skills

Ok we all know that to be a great MT its all about holding aggro....We also know that damage in all games is the main source....If warriors once again create the most damage will they be the MT choice ...Or can the guys from sigil create some truly great aggro skills to combat this

A taunt that actually works would be nice. Something along the lines of the way taunt overrides most damage in COH would be nice. They just need a taunt skill that is powerful enough to hold agro, but that can be overridden by to much damage from a single target.

This is an incorrect premise, at least in EQ1, which I am most familiar with (and was largely designed by VG's designers) . While damage undoubtedly can effect aggro, there are many other ways to draw and maintain aggro. EQ1 paladins with their multiple stuns, and SKs with their various spells, were the kings of aggro despite very low DPS. In most eras, paladins and SKs were far better at maintaining aggro than warriors with much higher DPS (which caused a near warrior revolt during PoP, the first expansion in which knights' aggo ability really pushed then to the forefront). Similarly, you might aske debuffers about drawing non-damage based aggro. Given past history, I expect that VG will have many ways (both welcome and unwelcome) to draw aggro other than just damage.

Lol load of tosh.

My SK could hold aggro without hitting auto attack and only using the Terror line of spells.

If tanks are made correctly their aggro comes from abilities not dps otherwise tanks would need to be the highest dps in a group and raid to hold aggro which as people actually know, they are not.

I hope all tanks can hold aggro as well, all tanks are capable of tanking all encounters and there are a few special encounters throughout the game that require one of the 4 tanks to MT, and some encounters that require each of the 4 tanks to tank a special part of it.

Like for example a mega boss consisting of an undead mob that must be tanked by a paladin to stop a proc, a group of mobs that must be tanked by a DK or they will all go for your casters, a mage mob that must be tanked by an Inq or he will cast death touch style nukes on your other tanks and a giant that must be tanked by a warrior and these 4 encounters happening all at the same time so your raid is split up, etc etc.

All tanks should be useful but there should be some encounters about that HAVE to be tanked by one of the 4 so that if a guild starts to use one as an MT for most stuff they are forced to use their other tanks too so that we dont get EQ1 Warriors etc, example a Warrior tanking x mob that should be tanked by a DK will get nuked by the mob severly and not be able to survive but the DK aura and being the target of the mob cancels this out.
